Thanks to the texter who sent the photo and report that a tree is down across Fairmount, under the Admiral Way Bridge. They report SDOT has been notified “and will respond.”

Thanks for the tip! After a reader told us about the road work on 44th SW between Alaska and Edmunds, we went over to check it out. A crew’s doing concrete pavement work and the street is partly closed right now.

That means a rerouting of buses; the C Line that would normally stop in this area is rerouted to 42nd/Alaska, according to a Metro alert.

5:49 PM: Thanks for the tips, even before we heard the dispatch – a Metro bus is reported to be broken down and blocking the Admiral Way offramp from the westbound West Seattle Bridge.

6:56 PM: Commenter reports it’s cleared.

10:34 AM: Thanks to David for the photo. A three-vehicle crash at 29th SW and SW Trenton, west of Westwood Village, means you’ll want to avoid that area for a while. No major injuries reported but we’ll follow up with SFD, which did send an engine but cleared it relatively quickly.

11:15 AM: Police just told dispatch the intersection is temporarily closed in all directions for cleanup/tow.

11:32 AM: And they’ve just updated to say it’s all clear, open all ways.

12:22 PM: SFD tells us they treated a 58-year-old woman at the scene, not life-threatening injuries.

3:36 PM: Police and SDOT are checking out what’s reported as a sinkhole near the west end of West Marginal Way SW, just east of the north end of Delridge. It’s reported to be about two feet wide by two feet deep, and an officer told dispatch they were marking it with a cone for starters – but because of the hole’s depth, that first cone wasn’t fully visible. So beware for now if you’re headed that way.

9:37 PM: Thanks to Jill for the photo. The driver of that Jeep Cherokee hit a utility pole by lower Solstice Park, at 47th SW and SW Webster, and then, police have told dispatch, walked away – though not before giving his name to the SFD crew who arrived to check on him. That name checked to the car’s owner, a Morgan Junction-area resident, according to a radio exchange between officers and dispatch, so police are trying to find him. They’ve also notified Seattle City Light about the pole and called for a tow truck; no other vehicle was reported involved.

9:45 PM: They’ve caught up with the likely suspect a few blocks north.

Thanks to everyone who sent tips and/or pics of this crash (two vehicles reported involved) at 35th SW and SW 106th in Arbor Heights. We’re told it’s blocking northbound 35th right now. No major injuries reported. (The rain is picking up, and expected to get heavier, so take care out there.)

-You might still find downed trees, hanging tree limbs, and malfunctioning signals this morning, as cleanup/repair crews were busy on Sunday and didn’t get to everything – like these tree trouble spots.

-Still awaiting the 60th, 61st, 62nd Alki speed-bump work between Alki Avenue and Admiral Way.

TRANSIT TODAY

Washington State Ferries – WSF is back to three boats on the Triangle Route, with M/V Kittitas, M/V Cathlamet, and M/V Sealth. Vessel Watch will show you which boat is where; ferry alerts will update with any changes.

Metro buses – On regular schedule and routes.

Water Taxi – Now on regular West Seattle service, fall/winter schedule.

WEATHER + SUNRISE/SUNSET

The forecast for today: Rain, high in the upper 50s. Sunrise will be at 7:40 am; sunset, at 6:05 pm. (We “fall back” one hour in 9 days.)

HALLO-WEEKEND ALERTS

-Today (October 24), Admiral District trick-or-treating is set for 3-6 pm – no street closures .

-Saturday (October 25), Alki trick-or-treating is set for noon-2 pm – no street closures

-Sunday (October 26), the West Seattle Junction Harvest Festival will take over an extra block (California south of Alaska) of the heart of The Junction, while the Farmers’ Market occupies its usual block. SW Alaska also will be closed from 42nd to 44th.
