5:46 PM: The photo was sent by Stephanie, who reports that bus hit a pole at 35th/Trenton and that traffic was backing up as a result. That’s the spot where buses are using Trenton as a temporary route because of the repaving project on SW Barton, and it’s a tight turn at best.

7:13 PM: Went by a short time ago – the bus is fully blocking SW Trenton just east of 35th.

This bendy-bus is stuck at 30th and Henderson. The driver was out walking around and scratching his head. I asked him if he needed help and he said thanks but he was going to try some manuevering first.
Metro & the SDOT could have coordinated a little better by restriping the westbound Trenton traffic to hug their curb thereby giving the buses a little more space to turn that corner……maybe those entities will consider it now? Although Barton is looking like it is ahead of schedule??? with the new cement looking like the job is nearing completion? Getting into and out of Westwood Village is not as horrible as I had anticipated.
Hopefully the work on Barton gets done soon. This morning (Sat) there was a C bus and car collision at the roundabout heading towards Westwood. Seen several near misses so far and not everyone is observing where the new car stop is before you make the right onto 35th from Trenton which makes it even harder for buses to make that turn. While I love the convenience of being able to ride the C all the way from downtown to within 2 blocks of my house and not having to change at Avalon for the 21, I’ll be happy when this is over.
Yeah running bus routes on Trenton is not a great idea. I realize they have to reroute somehow but this street is not meant for busses.
