Position SummaryMountain to Sound Outfitters is seeking a detail-oriented Ski & Snowboard Technician to join our service shop team. This role is responsible for providing high-quality tuning, mounting, repair, and maintenance services while ensuring every customer receives knowledgeable, friendly service. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision workmanship, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about helping customers get the most out of their time on the mountain.
Responsibilities
Perform ski and snowboard tunes, including base grinding, edge sharpening, waxing, and base repairs.
Mount and adjust alpine, touring, and snowboard bindings according to manufacturer specifications.
Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns.
Assist customers with equipment assessments and recommend appropriate repair or maintenance services.
Accurately complete work orders and communicate repair timelines with customers.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop.
Properly operate and maintain tuning machines, hand tools, and shop equipment.
Receive and organize repair inventory and customer equipment.
Assist with seasonal rental preparation, equipment inspections, and maintenance.
Help maintain shop inventory of repair supplies and notify management when materials need to be reordered.
Support the sales floor during busy periods by assisting customers with gear selection and product questions.
Stay current on industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and best practices for ski and snowboard service.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the shop and retail team.
Qualifications
Previous ski and/or snowboard tuning experience preferred; training may be provided for the right candidate.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays during the winter season.
Preferred Experience
Experience mounting and adjusting alpine, touring, and snowboard bindings.
Familiarity with Wintersteiger or other ski tuning equipment.
Knowledge of current ski and snowboard equipment and industry standards.
Experience working in a ski shop, outdoor retailer, or rental department.
