Every year, we hear about the loud fireworks of the Fourth followed by quiet volunteerism on the Fifth, as neighbors go out to clean up after those who left debris and trash behind. Andrew sent this photo of one in action:

Aawww. That is me! Thank you. Lincoln Park was actually quite clean. And A Cleaner Alki (byandby.org) got a good number of folks out over at Alki.
Carol, I probably owe you an apology. You didn’t ask for any attention. You just quietly went about your business making the beach a better place for all of us after a night of celebration. But I simply couldn’t resist taking the photo and sending it in to the blog. I was way too inspired by your act of service to just leave you to your business. Sorry about that. :)

For all the fellow dog owners out there, you too can become a litter picker upper like Carol by simply adding some litter to your dog bag before you close it up.
My husband and I do this too! We pickup litter and put it in our dogs poop bag. We also pickup litter on our beach walks. Its impossible for us to just leave it. We pass other locals doing the same. Cheers!
