11:53 PM: That car-on-side crash has California SW blocked south of Edmunds right now. Only buses are being allowed through. The driver appears to have hit a parked car. Apparently no major injuries – a medic unit was dispatched but them quickly canceled.

12:54 AM: Officers have just told dispatch that the street is open again, both ways.

3:39 PM: If you have to head this way from downtown or points north any time soon, don’t take southbound I-5 – it’s blocked at I-90 for cleanup of a semitruck crash and fuel spill. WSDOT reports “major backups all the way to the U-District.”

4 PM: The cleanup’s just been completed, and the lanes reopened, but beware of residual backups.

4:02 PM: Meantime, this has just happened as the pm commute continues: A crash at Olson Place/Cambridge, toward the east end of the Roxbury corridor. Multiple SFD units have responded. 4 people are reported injured. (Added) Thanks to Collin for the photo:

Thanks to Colin for the tip on signage for 16th SW road work this weekend near South Seattle College (WSB sponsor). SDOT says repaving by the north entrance to SSC will close the southbound side of 16th between 7 am Saturday and 5 am Monday (November 7-8). One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction, using the northbound side of 16th. SDOT says the work will probably continue the following weekend too.

SDOT also tells us that Urban Forestry crews will be in the 6000 block of West Marginal Way SW both days this weekend to do some trimming, noon-4 pm Saturday and 9 am-3 pm Sunday. They’ll take up one lane.

We might not see the backups of past years, with so many people voting early, but just in case, note that congestion is likely until the boxes close at 8 pm, particularly The Junction (eastbound California between 44th and Alaska) and High Point (eastbound SW Raymond east of 35th). Our area’s newest drop box, on the driveway in front of the South Seattle College (WSB sponsor) administration building (6000 16th SE), is less likely to draw a crowd. UPDATED 8:28 AM: Crash on West Marginal Way SW (thanks for the tip), east of the 5-way intersection per SDOT, which says all lanes are blockrd. At least one person is hurt.

8:34 AM: One lane is now open, SB. 3 vehicles need to be towed, per radio communication.

8:39 AM: Now one lane each way, “intermittently,” and two tow trucks are arriving.

8:52 PM: Added a framegrab from the SDOT camera. The third vehicle will be moved off the road without a tow.

9:54 PM: That’s reader video sent before emergency responders arrived at Delridge/Trenton, currently blocked to through traffic because of a 2-vehicle collision. So far no medic unit sent, indicating injuries are likely not major. The reader who sent the video says the collision happened as one vehicle was headed north on Delridge and turning west on Trenton while the other was headed south on Delridge.
