About that weather alert

The National Weather Service has our area under a Frost Advisory weather alert for tonight, suggesting the temperature could get down to freezing. However, the actual forecast is for a low in the 40s, and this morning’s low was 43, so you might not need to panic about your plants.

The forecast is for clear skies and little wind. Things exposed to the sky like plants will lose heat through radiation loss to the sky. Without air movement circulating warm air, the air adjacent to the plants will get cold too and insulate them from the warmer bulk air. So yes, the frost warning is justified.
