UPDATE: Crash at 37th/100th

11 AM: A texter tells us 37th SW and SW 100th in Arbor Heights are blocked by the aftermath of a crash, and while SFD is there tending to a driver, police (who are having a busy morning, judging by radio exchanges) haven’t arrived yet. The texter says it’s reported to be a hit-run, with a driver running a stop sign and hitting another car. We don’t have a description.

11:45 AM: Our photographer got there just as the damaged vehicle was about to be towed so the road could reopen.

It’s time to forget these round abouts an just put in stop signs.  The neighbor hood is not a major traffic throfare . Time to slow  drivers down.  Stop the confusion. Put up 4 way stops.

I agree with you, Rob.  My observations are that drivers speed around the roundabouts and do not look for oncoming drivers.  Stop signs are more exact in alerting the driver to come to a complete STOP at intersections.  However, today, I observed two drivers in the Seaview neighborhood blowing right through STOP signs.  The best advice for drivers is to drive defensibly, obey all traffic signs, use your car’s turn signals, go the speed limit, don’t take risks, use common sense, etc.

There is no round-about here.  There are 2 stop signs, one on the north side & one on the south side.  100th is an arterial.

It’s not a roundabout there. It’s a stop sign at an arterial.

There is no roundabout at this intersection.  SW 100th which goes easy/west is an arterial. 37th goes north/south and has stop signs.Driver was going West on 100th. Someone going south on 37th blew through a stop sign and T-boned the other driver. Then the driver who went through the stop sign fled on foot. Fortunately, the driver who was hit was not injured.

So I guess this all falls back on personal responsibility and proper operation of a moving vehicle. No road design to blame! What a wonder.

Time to ask Saka about  4 way stops here in arbor  heights. This be great first step  to make our neighbor hood here in arbor heights safer
