I just saw the recent West Seattle Herald (print version) and saw that there are many letters to the editor about their recent article on papers vs. blogs – and they’re not very pro-Herald either, which was a nice surprise since they printed them. Several are from people who post here.

Postscript on this one. It does take several days for the reports to make it through the SPD system and be cleared for media release. I got them late Monday and published them in a roundup of reports on Tuesday – turns out that on the south half of the Peninsula, there were SEVEN last Thursday night/Friday morning.

Hi All: There seems to have been an outbreak of ducky theft and abuse fever this last month. The latest can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbiTRlqou_A
It took place at 8:16 p.m. this last Sunday, and, as before (see https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3439), the perp had to work fairly hard to get the glasses off the ducky. They were firmly attached. One of the larger duckies had their 2009 glasses stolen three days before.
I don’t know about you all, but I find this kind of treatment of a neighbor who is providing a nice experience for his neighbors (I can’t tell you how many people love the duckies) as REALLY OUT OF LINE. Does it rise to criminal behavior? Likely. How upset should I be about it? Hard to upset someone with my level of duckitude… but I am getting there…
The duckies are planning a rally in support of their lost cousin and the loss of their party glasses. They will be carrying signs that say “Stop the ducky abuse.” “Return our ducky brother.” “Duckies deserve respect.” And I will be posting stills from the videos of the perps near the duckies for everyone’s edification.
I ask “is there a fever spreading around?” because, although I have provided such garden art for over four years now, I have NOT seen so much theft or attempted thefts. Must be the economy, huh?

Also, as I reiterate there.
