Did West Seattle Blog get paid to advertise this fundraiser for someone involved in the rape and murder of an English schoolgirl

How much did Alki’s and Holy Rosary get to support her? And why aren’t they helping out the murderers and rapists here at home? I guess the domestic variety aren’t all wealthy enough to hire a PR firm to play on the concerns of gullible people from Seattle.

wow, Johnson, you’re assuming a lot of things. First, that Amanda Knox is guilty (whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?). And then you’re assuming that WSB is “supporting” by reporting on said fundraiser. This is a local girl who is in the news. I know that WSB can perfectly well defend themselves, but the main part of this blog is about news – and that’s what this was.

I certainly hope that if something happens to you whether here or in another country, and you find yourself in trouble with the law, that no one will assume you’re guilty before your trial.

Amanda’s parents are NOT rich…and we are NOT gullible people…nor are we as judgemental as you seem to be…

Johnson, or someone with the same name, posted the same question in the comment thread on the home page. I have answered it there. Direct link to what I wrote:

Also, as I reiterate there. Any time we mention a sponsor in ANY context – whether it’s a calendar listing, a news story, even an answer to a question, we disclose that they are a sponsor by putting (WSB sponsor) after the mention. This is a level of disclosure that I haven’t seen matched anywhere else but we decided to promise it when we became a business more than a year ago. Just so everyone knows that, if you didn’t already. These people, by the way, didn’t even send us a press release about the event; we put it in the calendar after finding information elsewhere, because, whether you agree with it or not, it was a big event happening in West Seattle.

I assumed nothing, JanS, by asking the question about who’s also getting paid by the PR firm this “not rich” family hired. WSB answered that question.

I assumed nothing by asking about what Salty’s & Holy Rosary also got out of the deal with the devil.

I would be assuming when I assume NONE of the money raised at any of these events went to the ACTUAL victim of this woman’s actions, or her family. But I’d bet my bottom dollar that assumption is correct (gullible Seattle people notwithstanding).

Am I assuming much when I point out that donated money is going to the PR firm they hired — if that assumption is wrong, I’d be ASTONISHED. I want to get them to help me for free, too, then (HAH!)

I hope you can go to county lockups and find other accused rapists and murderers who are “not rich” and also don’t have the resources to put a retainer down on a PR firm to clear their names.

And my assumption about how gullible some Seattleites are is also proven correct if “hundreds” went to the Salty’s event.

and my point , sir, is that you are assuming that Ms. Knox is guilty, without knowing all of the facts, which will come out in trial, I’m sure.

And, as a last point. I’m a woman, the usual victim of rape, etc, so I don’t take this case lightly. If Ms. Knox is guilty, then she needs to pay for it. But if not, then she shouldn’t have a label put on her before the trial gets underway.

Johnson – if the jurors in Italy were sequestered, then it wouldn’t be as necessary for the Knox’s to hire a PR firm. The Italian jurors are seeing plenty of press that assumes Amanda’s guilt, so any PR by the family is working to counter that press.

This isn’t a case that’s being tried in the US, in which case the jury would be sequestered (considering the immense media coverage of the case) and the defendent would be provided with a public defender (if necessary).

If you believe she is guilty, then that’s fine…don’t attend and don’t contribute. No matter her guilt or innocence, she still deserves a “fair” trial. Considering you feel so strongly about this…why don’t you plan an event to raise money for the victim’s family? Or for any domestic victim of any crime, for that matter?

And this comment of yours: “I assumed nothing by asking about what Salty’s & Holy Rosary also got out of the deal with the devil.” was completely unnecessary.
