DuckitudeMemberHi All: There seems to have been an outbreak of ducky theft and abuse fever this last month. The latest can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbiTRlqou_A
It took place at 8:16 p.m. this last Sunday, and, as before (see https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3439), the perp had to work fairly hard to get the glasses off the ducky. They were firmly attached. One of the larger duckies had their 2009 glasses stolen three days before.
I don’t know about you all, but I find this kind of treatment of a neighbor who is providing a nice experience for his neighbors (I can’t tell you how many people love the duckies) as REALLY OUT OF LINE. Does it rise to criminal behavior? Likely. How upset should I be about it? Hard to upset someone with my level of duckitude… but I am getting there…
The duckies are planning a rally in support of their lost cousin and the loss of their party glasses. They will be carrying signs that say “Stop the ducky abuse.” “Return our ducky brother.” “Duckies deserve respect.” And I will be posting stills from the videos of the perps near the duckies for everyone’s edification.
I ask “is there a fever spreading around?” because, although I have provided such garden art for over four years now, I have NOT seen so much theft or attempted thefts. Must be the economy, huh?

miwsParticipantI know we all made light of the previous incident, and I appreciate your continued good “ducktitude”, but it’s always bothered me when others steal, or vandalize stuff that doesn’t belong to them.
Sure, there’s alot worse things going on in this world, but that doesn’t make this behavior right, by any means.
I just find it sad and frustrating that there are some out there that don’t respect others’ property, especially in a case like this, where you are simply trying to share with others, something that brings you fun and pleasure, and brings a smile to the faces of those others as well.
And I *still* need to make it by there to see the Valentines Day display!

DuckitudeMemberHi miws: I didn’t think we actually made “light” of the last ducky abduction… but we DID have some fun with the experience. Like you said, it is not a big deal in terms of how the world turns, or even what it costs to show and tell the duckies (stolen items are part of the cost), BUT it IS about how to treat your neighbors.
Rude at minimum, criminal at max. Not a good habit to get into.
As for Valentine’s — no rush. The really good stuff won’t be out for a couple more days. I would say by next Sat. Interactive! Animated! Wowsers!

ZenguyParticipantAnd let’s not forget that the perps are detracting from others enjoyment of the duckorations.

celeste17ParticipantMaybe you need to install a alarm system. They make that invisible fencing for the dogs so they stay in their yard. Maybe you need something like that. I am so sorry that the duckies have been vandalized.

DuckitudeMemberZenguy: Duckorations for sure! Love your grasp of the ducklingo, baabingo…

celeste17ParticipantOff with the duckyabductors beak. I still think you need ducky protection for the duckies. How about some ducky security to zap the ducky perps?

HMC RichParticipantThis post QUACKS me up. Maybe the get away route was via 99 to Elliot up to the Mallard Locks? Thanks for sharing the vids and posts on the WEB. If I may? If anyone knows the perps send them the BILL for the replacement costs.

celeste17ParticipantWe need the Duckie Patrol Squad to take action. Get the tasers ready. After all duckies don’t believe in corporal punishment.

DuckitudeMemberHi All: Thanks for the support and feedback. The duckies are going to hold a one week “demonstration” and will carry signs asking for “Respect for Duckies” and “Bring our brother back!” I will post some pics of the ducky rally when it is up and running.
Hey, any suggestions for signs for the duckies to carry during their rally for respect?
