I just did a quick skim over DPD’s Code regarding roofs, and although I didn’t spot anything specifically related to how a roof may affect neighbors, there may be other useful info (PDFs):

    Hi there!

My name is Zoey, and I was looking on West Seattle Blog and saw you’re looking for an occasional sitter. If you’re still looking, I’d be very interested. I’m 17 years old. I will be graduating high school at the end of this year, and am excitedly looking for a job in the childcare field this summer, or as soon as possible!

    Qualifications:

    – I’ve been babysitting for about three years now.

    – I have full American Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED certification.

    – I have taken the Children’s Hospital “Better Babysitters” course.

    – I’ve been in Girl Scouts since Kindergarten, so I’m pretty well trained in arts and crafts, and love to do them!

    – I have my food handlers permit, and I’ve taken lots of cooking classes at PCC, so I can be sure to make yummy and fun snacks and dinner for your kid.

    – Most of all, I love working with little kids!

Let me know if you have any further questions! I’d be happy to provide you with references from childcare positions I’ve had if you want them. Have a great day :)

I have driven an Escalade and a Yukon once each – Rentals; not in WS; long story.

These things make you feel invincible. You want to invade Iraq again instead of going to the local gas station. They compensate for any insecurity you have that week. You want to call everybody Bro and wear a hat backwards. They are hella fun.

But you step out them feeling just a little bit dirty, guilty and stupid.

    Threadjacking:

Guadalupe Market is my source for El Yucateca hot sauces which we love. They do it all there – bakery, butchery, and house-made tortillas. We just discovered their marinated flank steak at the butcher counter this weekend – too wet to bbq so we cooked it on the stove in cast iron, chopped it up and ate it with tortillas, cotija cheese, avocado, fresh corn cut off the cob, etc. Delicious!

Do think the team part is a little more exciting, because this is the last time bowling with these girls, said Bond, barbour wax international jacket, who will bowl at Nebraska next year. Can be plenty of other things that I can do as an individual. But nothing is ever going to come close to the experience to these girls on the team.

Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) finished in 15th place on the penultimate stage in San Luis. Cadel Evans started his season in Oman Chris Froome (Sky) is the new leader at the Tour of Oman. Cadel Evans (BMC) celebrated his birthday with another hard day of racing in Oman.

I had come prepared with plenty of cigarettes, and they chain smoked almost all the way. Neither carried any luggage. Very little was said to me during the journey. I just was looking online at the Ely paper to see if all was well, and just today found this. I know Don is watching over his family and his devotion to them will continue until they all meet in Heaven again. And so will we. Madonna apologized Saturday for using a racial slur on Instagram to refer to her son, seeking forgiveness a day after calling those who criticized her language “haters.” On Friday night, the singer posted a picture of her 13 year old son, Rocco, boxing and included the comment, “No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out!” She then added a variation of the N word. She quickly deleted the comment when other Instagram users berated her for the use of the word, although she was initially defiant. But in a statement to The Associated Press, a contrite Madonna said, barbour mens jackets sale, “Forgive me.

Much sympathy, Jo. I had them coming into the kitchen (yuk) earlier this year. They came up behind the kitchen counter and crawled up the wall. I couldn’t fasten a Terro bait close enough to their path to get them interested. The peppermint oil “fence” that’s worked before didn’t work very long this time.

Finally, desperate, I poured about a quarter cup of the pure peppermint down where they came through. Smell, yes! But I haven’t seen them since. I read once that the strong smell wipes out the pheromone trail they follow. But it has to be the oil, like they use for aromatherapy. Peppermint flavoring won’t work.

I’m sure they’ll be back, but in the past they’ve had to look for another entrance once they couldn’t find the one they were using.

Both parties seem to have moved to the left which in the Republican party helped spawn the Tea Party. (And of course much more spending by Democrats once they were in power again).

The best chance Democrats have is Republicans. While they fight each other (RINO vs Tea Partier), it will give the Democrats opportunities in the next election.

Yup, Not so many Blue Dogs as there used to be. Getting fewer and fewer too.

This event is NOT taking TVs, it’s important to note. A commenter on the main-page story noticed this and Judy from Fauntleroy verified it. Computer monitors, yes; TVs, no. Lots of other things they WILL take, too, as usual …

http://www.fauntleroyucc.org has a link to the what they take/what they don’t take list.

Metro is not transparent. They and Dow Constantine need to own up to what is really happening.

    Read this please.

I don’t mind paying a little extra for bus services, but not for these clowns. Sorry, they are not being forthcoming. Dow and crew are not reacting to the change in revenue.

Tell us the truth and maybe we will vote yes.

sna: Yup, yet another facet of the liquidity trap that is a byproduct of low/slow recovery courtesy of the kings of austerity. Dump trillions into the financial system that doesn’t pump it into the economy but instead uses it to shore up their balance sheets. And corporations sitting on a few trillion dollars in foreign accounts earning interest waiting for the normal uptick of aggregate demand instead of upgrading plant/equipment – which amounts to economic “Waiting for Godot”.

This stuff doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

lazybeard, I just did some poking around seattle.gov, and they have the Adopt-a-Street Program:

    http://tinyurl.com/lfryoy3

Looks like is a two year commitment, of about a one mile area, with four cleanups per year.

Sounds like you are more interested in a continuous, one block plan though.

Still, might be a place to start asking questions.

    Mike

I gave Tracy more info, and she’ll post about it when she gets a minute! :). Here’s some additional info for you though:

I grew up in West Seattle and was involved in EVERYTHING (Hi-Yu, Kiwanis, soccer/softball/basketball, Team Tracy 3-day walk, worked at Greentree Animal Hospital and Hotwire Coffee, wrote articles for the WS Herald, went to Seattle Lutheran HS, volunteered EVERYWHERE, and now work with many families in the area as an Autism Therapist).

My mom (Lorrie Cook) has been extremely active in the community (Hi-Yu, Fauntleroy Fall Fest, etc.) and is now the director of Little Pilgrims Preschool.

My grandma (Peggy Cook) is a friend to all in the WS Junction! She gives hugs and advice like they’re going outta business! ;)

Jeremiah and I spent our original wedding savings on our rescue pup’s chemotherapy, so we could really REALLY use our community’s support to win this contest!!!

You can vote daily from every Internet enabled device you have, and the contest ends SOON on April 15th!!! Every vote counts!!!

I’d be cautious about bamboo – your neighbors may not like you very much if it ends up “traveling” to their yard. Arborvitae can be pretty, but my last experience with it, it ended up with terrible tent caterpillars! YUCK! If you like to garden at all, columnar apple trees and columnar cherry trees can be neat. They get to about 6 feet tall, and can be potted in a row as needed for privacy – plus then you have the bonus of fresh fruit and gorgeous flowers in spring and summer. WS Nursery carries them, last I checked.
