UPDATE: Crash on Harbor Avenue

1:48 PM: Thanks for the tips. Multiple SFD units and SPD are at a crash scene near Salty’s (1936 Harbor SW); no details of the crash yet but avoid the area for a while.

2:21 PM: This crash involved a car driver and motorcycle rider. We’re checking with SFD regarding injuries. SPD radio indicates the scene is not yet clear.

3:47 PM: Traffic map indicates the street is no longer blocked.

9:40 PM: SFD spokesperson David Cuerpo says the rider is an 28-year-old man who was in serious condition when taken to a hospital.

  We were headed south bound. He passed us in the oncoming lane. He then went back into our lane and then quickly passed the car in front of us. It appeared he collided with a car heading north bound in the north bound lane but we did not see the actual collision happened as there was a car in front of us. I don’t know if the driver of the car that he collided with was hurt or not. He stayed in his car until medics arrived and looked like he was in shock.

      It’s okay Carrie. Accidents happen. Both my husband and I ride motorcycles and we did what we would want someone to do for us or someone to do for our children in the same situation.

My husband and I were first on the scene and provided initial care until EMTs arrived. Any additional updates as to how the rider is doing would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Thank you for remaining on the site .I was on my bicycle at the time and scene of the crash. I believe it was your husband who provided care.It was several minutes until a SP arrived on the scene.

  Yes my husband was able to get him on his side and open his airway so he could breathe and I tried to help him remain calm. I was very impressed by SFD and Seattle police’s response time even though it felt like forever in the moment, it was actually very quick. We just hope and pray that he is okay and for his family. We thought about calling hospitals in the area but due to HIPAA laws they wouldn’t be able to provide any information.
