In reply to: Where to go/ What to do on Valentines in WS?
AnonymousInactiveSalty’s is a great place to go for Valtentines Day they do make you feel special and the food is yummy! Also, Daniel’s Broiler at 200 Lake Washington Blvd. Great view of the water and very romatic!! It is great, that is where my husband proposed to me 11+ years ago!!
Your Wife is lucky to have a husband like you who is already scouting places to make Valentines Day special!! :)
AlkiMacParticipantDon’t forget Pepperdock’s on Alki. A mean Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and tasty onion rings. Yummy.

credmondParticipantIt’s funny, in the Wiki entry for Pennsylvania, they mention Tastykake as being one of the local food traditions – previously citing Pennsylvania as the capital of the snack food world. Yum, I think I can even remember one of their radio jingles. I’d said caramel earlier, obviously I meant to say butterscotch. That’s probably also the only butterscotch item I ever liked – hate the stuff, otherwise. I always thought they put something in the recipe so that it would become addicting. Also, apparently Philadelphia is the heart of the American food flavor and scent industry. Knew someone who worked there and they were always inventing new compounds which totally tasted or smelled like – a Jones Soda. Wonder who does the chemistry work for Jones.

OliverMemberLuciano’s delivers yummy pasta and salads. But watch out if you order pizza from Luciano’s, they have a good scam going. If you order a large pizza, they consistently upsize you and sell you an extra-large. They don’t give you a total, so you don’t figure it out until the pizza’s at your door. A friend was ordering a bunch of large pizza’s for a gathering. We warned her of this, when they didn’t give her a total at the end she called back and confirmed that they had charged her for extra larges. She asked them to change the order and they refused, so my friend ended up with an extra $50 in pizza.
Ho-win has pretty good and cheap Chinese food.

RMRMemberTwo others that I like (although I am no where near a coffee expert) are: the Westwood village Starbucks – consistently good coffee and very fast, friendly service on weekday mornings and Bakery Nouveau – just yummy coffee to go along with their yummy pastries!
JanSParticipantoh, yum…their deep fried mushrooms…the best. Now I’ll have to leave WS so I can have some – lol…..

grrParticipantYup..Tom’s Automotive is great.
AimParticipantTry Elliot Bay’s BBQ burger but have them substitute the crispy shoestring onions (from the pork sandwich) instead of raw ones. OH MY YUM. We go there at least once a week, sometimes twice. And my weight gain this year reflects it. ;-)
kParticipanti agree with the elliot bay comments! a great burger every time. i am a huge fan of the hawaii five 0! yum! also, super good fries. be sure to get a side of tartar sauce for the fries.
MissKMemberJaks makes one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. Yummmm I think I might go get a burger tonight. :-)

QueMemberUptown Espresso for at the junction for if I have a group of folks that I am meeting with, since they have such nice big tables and good lighting. It always seems cheerful in there. And Ladro has wonderful coffee too. Yum to both places

rcrawleyMemberJust did a full Junction walk along California (not to the approval of my dog :) to check restaurant signs and basically everything is either closed or an unknown (meaning they didn’t have anything posted). I haven’t called any of the unknowns, but I’m assuming if they don’t say, they’re closed. Here’s the full list in case anyone has info on the ones w/o posted signs.<br>

- Bakery Nouveau: Closed
Sure, it would have been easier to just say “They’re all closed except for Poggie’s,” but you don’t realize how many restaurants we have on one street in a 2-block area until you look at each of them and try to commit them to memory. Looks like we may start a new Christmas tradition this year: Dim Sum in the ID followed by drinks at Poggie’s. :)
