My wife and I came downstairs this morning to find that the furnace had shut off and the thermostat was blank (no power). I assumed that the thermostats had gone bad and needed to be replaced. I started calling around to purchase one. I called and spoke with Murphy at Brennan Heating and Air Conditioning. He suggested that I check the condensate line for the furnace. (The condensate or water is the result of combustion and may be set up to drain on the exterior of your home). Murphy explained that the condensate would freeze in the line and the backup of condensate/water would activate a sensor or switch which prevented the furnace from entering the heating cycle. After checking the line at his suggestion and spending 30 seconds with my wife’s hair dryer blowing warm air into the line, my furnace was back up and running. Again, while I hope no one else is having this problem, Murphy did say that a large number of their service calls during this cold snap could be attributed to this. He probably saved us the money I would have spent on the
thermostat and a service call.

But keep in mind, that was somewhat determined by geography – Alki, Hiawatha, High Point CC’s vicinities had many fewer people out of power. However, it at least gives you some idea for starters that if you cannot get info (and seriously, write our number down and stick it in your wallet – 206/293-6302 – we answer 24/7 and are here to help), go to your nearest community center.

This thread caught my attention today and there are some posts that go a little too far sometimes elsewhere. So, anything to really get into a snit over? Not especially because we can assume its made in the heat of the moment amid frustration. But try to call out another poster, and bingo! I even tried to repost *exactly* Christophers orignial post, and his reminder of his videos together on this afternoons thead and shazzam! deleted within 5 minutes. Why the censorship about a sensitive comment, unless it wasn’t so sensitve? Why protect posters, but not the public being trampled on? (right or wrong).
The bicycle discussions and pedestrian discussions come to mind too from the past.
So there you go. I’m not going to go into major rant about it, but I stand firm that the deleted posts were not that objectionable.

It was thoroughly checked out and found to be unfounded (ample citywide-media coverage yesterday). The aforementioned Coast Guard training is often launched from Don Armeni here in West Seattle – many a day you can go over and see them launch. We had a pic last year
