Reader Recommendation Request: Restaurant for Thanksgiving

There are several important things happening in, and pertaining to, West Seattle tomorrow. You can find them right now on the WSB Events page; we were going to put together a preview post for tonight, but we think we have a better way to conclude the “holiday” night — asking you to help a fellow WSB reader with this recommendation request:

The people we normally spend Thanksgiving with are not having a gathering this year, so we’re on our own and are looking for a restaurant. Does anyone have any recommendation for a nice place for a couple to have Thanksgiving dinner that doesn’t cost a small fortune? Our favorite restaurant is closed on Thanksgiving. I checked with Salty’s online and their buffet is almost $50 a person – I’m thinking I’d like to spend a little less than that for dinner. It doesn’t have to be a buffet, and not even necessarily “typical” Thanksgiving food. Doesn’t have to be in West Seattle, but within half an hour or so would be fine. Any thoughts?

Post your recommendation(s) in the comments; previous WSB Reader Recommendation Requests and responses are archived here.

the FREE meal offered at the Hall at Fauntleroy by Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes Catering is really a nice community thing. The food is great…the dessert table even better. Yes, you do sit with other people from the community at tables that hold about 8 people. But…they wait on you, serve you food, and it really is very nice. It’s not a “soup kitchen” kind of meal….just them giving back to the community. I’m not sure of the hours, but at least from noon until late in the afternoon…you could call them at 206-932-1059.

We have been going to The Crab Pot on the waterfront for a few years. Always fun and not overly crowded.

Could always go to the International District and have duck instead :-)

I’m not finding a website for them, so I can’t confirm the option right now, but we’ve gone to the Homestead in the past.

Great suggestion GenHillOne! As I was searching my memory banks for the perfect restaurant I locked on the Homestead. Family-style dinners in a cozy atmosphere. A roaring fire in the majestic stone fireplace. A great location for a blustery walk by the water after a fantastic meal. Nothing says West Seattle family like the Homestead. Let’s just hope it’s open!

We’ve gone to the Marriott at Sea-Tac for the past couple years – great buffet and service. I think it was around $25/person last year.

If you decide to spend just a bit more, we strongly recommend Kaspar’s. Used to be a restaurant — now just special events and amazing catering. $42, but look what you get — http://www.kaspars.com/Events.htm#Thanksgiving.
We’ve gone three times and never gotten around to the traditional turkey day fare, which they have in abundance — but our guests have said it’s remarkable as well.

    Enjoy!

I heard that the Keg in Burien has a Thanksgiving dinner as well.

The Waterfront is offering T-Day dinner for $35 per person, nice location tasty food not a scary price, hours for dinner are 2pm -8pm when checking for reservations yesterday they had plenty of openings.

I would prefer to hit one of the major hotels in downtown like the Four Seasons, The Westin or the W. I’m sure their main restaraunts will be serving Turkey dinner..

Hey Jiggers – hasn’t been the Four Seasons for years now – it’s Fairmont. And have you seen their prices? A little pricey I’d say. ~Thanksgiving Feast
    November 22 (11 am-6 pm)
    Adults: $110; Children 6-12: $55

Thanks A I totally forgot about that. But if you have money and want to enjoy go for it..

Charla, sadly, as of last week, Kaspars was already fully booked. Gotta put in a calendar reminder to reserve early next year. We’ve gone there before for TurkeyDay and it was incredible!

I appreciate the replies to my RRR – I had never heard of the free community dinner before. You can’t beat that price and I like the idea of that sense of community. We’re definitely going to check it out. Thanks!

I called the Homestead, they’re not open on Thanskgiving. :(

Sorry, comment time is over.
