ZenguyParticipantHappy B’day. Sorry it is so close to Christmas, I feel your pain. lol
December 18, 2008 at 10:44 pm #650656
austinMemberHappy birthday! I hope you’re doing something fun, pointless, and snow-related.
December 18, 2008 at 10:55 pm #650657
cjboffoliParticipantThanks everyone!
Life is good. I can’t complain too much about having a birthday pushed right up against Christmas.
I just came in from shoveling snow. Well, pushing it with a broom to be more exact. I can’t really say it was “fun” though it does remind me of childhood Decembers.
Somehow birthdays just aren’t the same when you’re an adult. Don’t you think? For me, birthdays peaked around age 10 when my parents got me that Big Trak with the optional dump trailer. It was wicked awesome.
December 18, 2008 at 10:58 pm #650658
JanSParticipantthis is where I’m supposed to offer the birthday massage? especially after pushing that snow around? you’re gettin’ older, Christopher – lol…hard work like that is gonna take it’s toll ;-)
Happy Birthday !!!
December 18, 2008 at 11:00 pm #650659
ZenguyParticipantI remember ten. My birthday is just after Christmas (worse I am guessing) and I remember my mother looking at me with a big grin on my face she said “oh my god, it is your Birthday, isn’t it?” I got the shopping spree of my life that year.
December 18, 2008 at 11:12 pm #650660
cjboffoliParticipantJan: You’re telling me. Push brooms weren’t really invented to move snow either. Lucky my ticker is OK.
Zenguy: A birthday after Christmas is DEFINITELY worse. I can’t believe your mom pulled a “Sixteen Candles” on you. Good that she promptly made up for it though.
December 18, 2008 at 11:35 pm #650661
CaitParticipantHappy Birthday!
December 18, 2008 at 11:39 pm #650662
charlabobParticipantYup, after Christmas is worse — though you can profit from sales if you’re a greedy child (who, moi?)
A Very Happy Birthday, Christopher! Take the rest of the day off. :-)

cjboffoliParticipantWe had reservations for b-day dinner at Crush. But we’re obviously not going to be making it over to Capitol Hill tonight.
Lucky for us Spring Hill is serving dinner this evening!

Garden_nymphMemberHave a safe and wonderful birthday!

SueParticipantHappy birthday, Christopher! For your birthday wish, can you please wish that the snow melts by tomorrow morning? :)
Speaking of birthdays near Christmas, my sister’s birthday is 12/14. I remember one year when I had flowers delivered to her for her birthday. Despite my picking out a birthday bouquet, they send something all green and red with poinsettias and a “merry christmas” banner. I’m sure it must’ve been frustrating for her – I know I complained to them about it.

JoBParticipantOne of my sons was born on christmas eve… he said it really bit the big one… so we celebrated his half b-days for a while.
as for me.. i was very glad he didn’t wait much longer ;)
I hope you have a wondrous b-day christopher… this is one thing where i am guessing you just can’t have too many.

RTMemberA-ha, you WORK for the WSB. This explains why your racist post about “West Africans” wasn’t deleted despite multiple people being openly offended by it.
This reflects extremely poorly on the WSB, which is a representation of West Seattle. Is this an elitist neighborhood full of smug white bigots where irrelevant and unnecessary comments pointing out people’s skin color and ethnicity is accepted?
December 19, 2008 at 2:54 am #650668
ZenguyParticipantWow, RT that is really over the top. CJB is one of the funniest, nicest people on the blog. Your post only reflects badly on you.
December 19, 2008 at 3:01 am #650669
WSBKeymasterI’m going to answer this one publicly.
I have received a complaint from ONE person.
To mention a nationality is not racist unless it is said in a racist context, and that was not the case here in our review. That is why I did not delete Christopher’s comment.
We have tougher rules on this site regarding racism, sexism, sizism, etc., than almost any other news site in Seattle. Go check out a comment thread on the PI, Slog, you name it. I don’t stand for anything that attacks a person for a trait with which they were born.
But this wasn’t racist, and so it stands. I’m sorry if you disagree.

MrJTMemberThank you for putting that in more than two words like I wanted to Zenguy.
December 19, 2008 at 3:06 am #650671
ZenguyParticipantWhich two words were you thinking of???
December 19, 2008 at 3:22 am #650672
MrJTMemberYep. THOSE two.
December 19, 2008 at 3:25 am #650673
ZenguyParticipantDecember 19, 2008 at 3:28 am #650674
Garden_nymphMemberRT, although I haven’t read the comment you mentioned, I feel that voicing your dismay here, on Christopher’s birthday thread is just as rude and unnecessary! I’m biracial so your, “smug white bigot” comment missed me by a mile! Far from being a smug elitist, Christopher just donated many items for my daughter’s school auction at West Seattle Montessori. He donated some of his framed pictures as well as a painting he made specifically for our auction; his donation alone raised $400!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN, CHRISTOPHER, our bacon king!
December 19, 2008 at 3:30 am #650675
MrJTMemberSorry CJB, I neglected to wish you a Happy Birthday ! So there you go. Have a great one.
December 19, 2008 at 3:36 am #650676
GenHillOneParticipantHappy Birthday!!! I hear TURKEY makes an excellent sammich with bacon ;)
December 19, 2008 at 4:10 am #650677
mrhinehMemberWSB won’t let you see it. Judge for yourself:
I just watched a re-enactment of a 3 Stooges episode at the corner of 41st and Alaska, if the stooges were re-cast as three West Africans driving a Mercedes-Benz.
.
The heavy sedan had only one rear drive wheel. The driver was inside steering (on his cell phone, the whole time) while his two friends were outside pushing futilely. The car wasn’t going anywhere despite the fact that he had it floored. The spinning tires were kicking up a series of blinding smoke-screens across Alaska.
.
The finally got it to spin across Alaska pointing downhill and exited the way they came.
.
Take it from a New Englander: Spinning your tires at full speed will NOT get you unstuck. You’ll burn up your engine and you risk spinning your tires apart from the centrifugal force.
.
Uploading video of this amusement in a few minutes.
