Sharing a note of thanks

Grace Church didn’t send around advance word of the Safeway food drives last weekend but somebody here noticed and posted about it. So we got this note from Linda at Grace Church who asked that it be shared on WSB and White Center Now (where we posted it earlier on the main page as we don’t have forums there):

Last Saturday, November 15, Food Drives were held at the Jefferson

Square and Roxbury Safeway stores and generous Safeway shoppers donated

more than 65 boxes of food, over $1200 in cash and gift cards, and 102

turkeys for both the White Center and West Seattle Food Banks. And many

thanks to Dave and Curt, the Safeway managers who welcomed us and

assisted in set up of the Food Drives.

They promise advance word in the future – we had posted about several other food-bank type benefits that day, and would have happily given this one advance publicity too, but are thankful for eagle-eyed, info-sharing WSB’ers.

This is great news! I am so glad to hear that they had such a large drive and received so many donations of food, turkies, and gift cards lets hope that people continue with their generousity throught this holiday season.

Got an update from Grace Church – the turkey total actually turned out to be 189. Wow. Congrats to everybody who helped. I just posted more news about helping on the front page tonight – for all those of us who are lucky enough to have what we need this time of year, we have many opportunities to share:
