I wanted to start this thread for all of those who want to thank any of the anonymous snow angels that may have helped you out during the storm.

Hopefully they read the blog and will recognize their good deeds.

If any of you have read my confession under JenV’s post: “Cavaclade of stupidity – or, I see stupid people” https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3142

I want to thank all the snow angels on Morgan Street who helped me get unstuck and off the road.

Happy Holidays, however you may celebrate!!

My neighbors who offered to drive me all the way to the U-District when they saw me headed toward the bus stop. AMAZING! From the stories I heard, it might have been the only way I’d have gotten to work sanely.

Also, my co-worker & husband who let me hitch a ride back to W-Sea. The only thing that sounded worse than the commute in was the commute home.

May the new year bring both these families ridiculous amounts of whatever they most need!

Many thanks to my neighbor whom I’ve never spoken to before yesterday. He saw me desperately shoveling my driveway with a cookie sheet and brought me his snow shovel to use. I was at least able to get to the grocery last night (before getting more snow) thanks to his kindness.

I just posted this e-mail from Kristen in the comments on the current coverage post:

    >>>>>>>>the other night I ventured out to do some rogue

sledding and got back to my place around 1:30 AM. Just as I was pulling

into my spot I got stuck…really really stuck. Only about 2 feet from

being completely parked…except that the back end of my car was now

blocking the street. Given the time of night/morning, I wasn’t about to

    knock on a neighbors door.

So naturally I called my insurance agency. They told me it would be an 8

hour wait. They suggested I call the police. I felt like an idiot doing

that, but I did b/c I needed help. The operator said it could be

hours…and at 1:40 AM I wasn’t exactly excited about that prospect either.

Lo and behold, not even 5 minutes later an officer was outside looking for

me. I was inside going to put on my pjs and attempt to wait it out.

He was kind and helpful and got me unstuck. We had a good laugh and it sure

didn’t hurt that he was really cute in his uniform! Rave for the Southwest

    precinct!

So might be a good reminder to readers that the police are helpful on many

levels–and can probably be there faster than your insurnace agency with a

tow. Non emergency number is 206-625-5011.<<<<<<<

To my son and daughter, Doug and Betsy, who both live in Anchorage. Doug flew in yesterday and almost immediately started shoveling the driveway. Yay, since we’re stuck at the end of Rose Street across from the Park.

Also, Betsy – the lurker in Anchorage – I think she wants to keep tabs on you (and me, gulp!) here in W.S. Since she knew I was stuck, she ordered goodies from Amazon Fresh on Monday. The order has been cancelled, but the mere fact of ordering for her Mama made my heart warm.

Also, my sister Sue Richardson, and family including Mimi Riley and her husband, Mike Dady, who are bringing Christmas dinner to our house tomorrow..since we can’t get my 94 yo Mom off this hill.

What a family :-> Happy Holidays to everyone…spread the glow to all you meet.

to Jane who hosted knitting last night because our usual haunt closed early. I would have been so sad after missing another week of knitting group. She even had goodies and dogs to play with. Jane, you rock!

To our neighbors on SW Austin Street who grabbed their shovels and helped dig our car out. We had gone to the store and had ALMOST made it home. We don’t know your names, but thank you so much!

Thanks to so many in our neighborhood that seem to appear whenever a FWD car gets stuck and can’t quite make it to Admiral – there have been many.
