These photos of the LP geese were taken in front of the middle shelter yesterday morning. One of these geese is the same one that was chased and bitten (?) by an off-leash dog two weeks ago.

I’m sure the dog attack was very traumatic for both geese, and it should not have happened. However, as you can see here, the geese seem to be recovering well. There was no obvious physical damage, and they didn’t seem to be any more shy of people or dogs than they usually are.

It made me very glad to see the geese back in the thick of things, but notwithstanding that, I’m still planning on joining with others to pressure the City to keep dogs ON leashes and OFF beaches.

The Obama signs are less expensive. The T-shirts are about the same price although Obama has some specialty items (like a hoops jersey) that are more expensive.

Most are in English but each has some Spanish tees.

+1 for the Bikeworks recommendation. (and +1 for steel bikes!) If your son is 6′-2″ he will need a taller bike frame. Bikeworks has a whole warehouse that he could pick a frame from and they will build it up for him if he is not into the earn a bike program. The components will be good/solid and you’ll have a great bike that fits him. They are very good at advising for frame type, gearing tires etc. I think a used bike like this would be better than new since he will likely have to lock it up outside – it will be less of a target. If you are up to it also check craigslist for a good bike brand like trek, specialized, giant, univega, nishiki and can check here to figure out what size frame would be right for him:

Best to stay away from pure road bikes if he is used to riding BMX. Mountain bikes are okay if you get slicker/thinner tires but best off with a hybrid.

Mike, the pink fireball photo was actually at least the third one. The one I remember most clearly, because it also was a case of seeing a photo and saying “hey! that would make a good header photo!” was a waves-crashing-on-seawall photo by Bob Bollen. The Wayback Machine, which does not have a very good archive of WSB, nonetheless took this grab in 2006:

We were a very different site back then. Our stories are all archived on site here too but because of dynamic aspects of the site, you can access the old content but it’ll come up with current header and sidebar. The Wayback Machine is more like a freeze-frame of the whole thing, but they didn’t crawl sites daily or even weekly.

The cost varies depending on how many workouts you decide to pay for — the more you commit to, the more you save. They also offer nutrition counseling as well – not sure if that is extra or not, it is not a service I have used. I would encourage you to contact Bonnie Katz for questions. She is the owner and she is really great.

The method is only a conspiracy if it goes against the repubs way. There is nothing wrong with the tabulation, it’s the same way it has been calculated for decades… but of course because it’s not the numbers the repubs want, it must be wrong.

For them, party first… not America.

If the unemployment #’s would be up, they would be jumping for joy. But any positive economic news, they lash out. Does that seem like they care about America first.

Just like blocking the jobs bill that would have passed with no qualms in the past by both parties… but whatever economic terrorism the GOP can unleash on America, they don’t seem to have any limits.

I just got back from Westcrest – another woman and I noticed this dog who had been cowering near the back gate for nearly an hour. She has a collar with vaccination tags but no ID. See the Pets page for a photo and contact info for the woman who took the dog home.

hopey, I was thinking the same about Puget Sound Key and Lock.

According to this WSB Article from a few years back, he sold the Mobile to his business partner, at the time of closing up shop, so dunno if it’s still around in any capacity.

A quick Google only pulled up review type info, with the most recent Yelp review, being a year and a half old.

I know some people are not happy to see Miranda moving to White Center, but what’s not to love about a location that will allow her to invest in better equipment to serve more people more quickly?

i remember when people were fussing about Zippy’s moving to White Center too.. but that was ultimately a good move for them… and for us too.

Not only can i find parking now, but i don’t have to eat my burger in the car. The pups think sharing means badgering me for every bite and i wasn’t getting much bang for my burger buck that way. Now i can eat in peace and share leftovers ;)

I am glad that Miranda is taking this leap of faith to keep her restaurant going… that takes guts…

Yup, I believe in her and what she is doing that much.

I will warn you though.. there will be no political discourse while dinner is being served. I will be too busy eating to take even the most tempting bait. the last dinner she prepared for us was more than memorable. Having said that, I want to raise two other issues.

First, I think it’s going to be a close race, and that will be good for American democracy. Obama has disappointed people on many fronts, and it would send the wrong message to him and the Democratic Party if we were to reward him with a landslide. That would be like giving a kid an A+ just for handing in a paper, when what he really deserves is a C-. Barely passing.

Finally, and most important, I want to say that I think Mitt Romney is a good man and a worthy Presidential candidate. If times were a bit different, I can see myself voting for the guy.

This morning I went into “deep cover” and infiltrated a group of protesters. They were en route to the “Belly of the Beast” where Dear Leader was having his fundraiser.

In order to maintain my disguise I had to smoke a “joint” curse a lot and generally act like I was very much into the whole “free love” thing.

Well I must’ve been pretty convincing because at the end of the march they dragged me up on the stage and someone shoved a megaphone into my hand. I don’t know if it was the joint talking or what, but in that moment I felt really . . . inspired.

“Off the Cows!” I screamed. But I guess that wasn’t the right thing, cuz the crowd got real quiet.

 

“We’re vegans,” said a girl in the front row.

 

(Damn! And it was that hot little co-ed, too. The one I’d been chatting up all day.)

 

 

“Hey, I still wanna stand with you and Planned Parenthood,” I told her at the coffee shop later. “I would never EVER try to take away your birth control.”

“Can’t I stand with you some more? Just for a little while? Please? Pleeeeeeeez?”

But it was no use. She just kept piddling with that damn thingamajobber of hers and talking about someplace else she was supposed to be.
