hopeyParticipantI’m looking for a locksmith to re-key the locks on our new house, as well as fix a couple of faulty/stuck latches. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

birdrescuerParticipantALERT: do not call any of the “24 hour” service. Make sure they have a physical location.
There is a big scam with locksmiths. They have local numbers but are not local and don’t know the f&*^^ what they are doing.
Alki is good. BE SURE THERE IS A PHYSICAL SHOP

amaliaParticipantDitto birdrescuer!!! Terrible, terrible $700+ experience with 24-hour services (who gave their address as the AT&T store at Morgan Junction). Faulty lock, unlisted phone numbers, outrageous charges, sexual harrassment, and, finally, threats! (I posted the whole story here somewhere.)
I have since heard that there is a dependable local locksmith on Alki – a search here should bring up the thread.

they will come to your house or they will patiently talk you though the process so you can save money on service calls.

hopeyParticipantWasn’t there a local guy who had a mobile outfit? Something about a fire at his shop a couple years back so he went mobile? Or did that not survive?

miwsParticipanthopey, I was thinking the same about Puget Sound Key and Lock.
According to this WSB Article from a few years back, he sold the Mobile to his business partner, at the time of closing up shop, so dunno if it’s still around in any capacity.
A quick Google only pulled up review type info, with the most recent Yelp review, being a year and a half old.

GAnativeParticipantThe company that had the fire is Puget Sound Lock and Key. Problem is that some of his equipment was damaged in the fire and he hasn’t replaced it.

When I locked the car keys in the truck of the convertible and called AAA they sent Puget Sound Lock and Key. He was great, super friendly and tried for hours to get into the trunk but finally had to give up and wait until the next day to call the dealer to get the key code and make a new key. Once he had the code he spent all day trying but couldn’t make the new key becasue the wheel he needed was one that was damanged and not replaced so we ended up having to have AAA find another locksmith who could make the key.

3 days, 2 locksmiths and 1 tow truck later we finally got the trunk open.

MRS.SRParticipantI also recommend ws lock, Stan is great! He took the time to walk through my new house and point out not only lock issues, but other safety concerns that I may not have ever seen or thought of. Very considerate man, I will always give them my business!

sbreParticipantI use Locksmith Services for my home and all the rental properties, never need to worry about the end result.
