We live across from the gorgeous new $1M Walt Hundley Soccer Field. I have a (nearly) 3yo who enjoys “soccer” but at this age I am really not ready to commit to A) paying high fees B) firm practice and game commitments…and mostly C)stress

So, I was wondering if there might be a group of West Seattle parents out there who might want to start a Saturday morning pickup “game” for Toddlers aged 2-4?

I’m thinking :45-:60 (or however long they last)…maybe have some warm up group activities, ball coordination, running drills, following directions, red-light/green-light, kicking into goal..basic stuff….and a REALLY LOOSE interpretation of “games”. And then maybe a snack!

The internet has all this broken down, and I’d be happy to “coach” – unless someone who actually knew anything about soccer was interested! The only thing every kid would need is a soccer ball. No commitment, just show up if you want. I could even set up Facebook page for info & communication. Thoughts??

This beautiful field is empty most early mornings. And if we don’t get out, cartoons take hold. The field is already set up for smaller toddler-size mini-fields. And if a large game was going on, we can always move to one of the other two fields, or let them play in the tennis court or the jungle gym! :)

We would definitely be interested! We have an almost four-year-old boy that would love to do this I think.

We’re all in RainyDay! LOVE the idea! I had intended to sign my 3 & 4 yr. old girls up for soccer this fall but with a new baby on the way in weeks is just didn’t pan out. I’ll look forward to some more details. (They’ll be SO excited to put their new cleats on we just found at the consignment shop!)

Awesome. Thinking of starting 9/29. It would definitely be very loosely formed, but I’ll look up some basic skills/curriculum to follow for ideas.

I’ll check the field the next two weekends for the best time (thinking 9/9:30) and make sure there’s no official leagues going on. But even so, there are 3 fields there. I might even pick up some cones for kicking exercises!

Parents would need to STAY of course. Think of it more as a group soccer playdate.

If you are interested email me at kriskirwan @ hotmail.com (but with no spaces there) and I will create a FB or email group with more info!

FYI…this group is going strong. We’ll be meeting this Saturday for our 3rd soccer practice. The kids are having a blast. Feel free to join our Facebook group here for more info: https://www.facebook.com/groups/462744123765679/
