As someone who grew up with/using guns of many types, a former member of our military and one who legally owns weapons, this is a very welcomed story.

They are not from West Seattle, however, Furry Faces Foundation has partnered with them on a few issues and we have great respect for the work they do.
Not quite sure on the details, i.e., what type of car, when they get it, etc., but will update when we have more info.

Also, again, a reminder that the plan for taller buildings is not new; the area was rezoned more than a few years ago. What’s new now is that it appears some actually are on the verge of being built. Right now, the active plans are for the east side of the south block. There is nothing that I know of, right now, immediately in the works for the north block. Ideas and comments are easy and cheap; someone taking on a vision and pushing for it is hard, but if you are interested in some form of preservation, that is what it would take.

The question about health care is so offensive I’ve deleted it. Five **children** (I have a 16-year-old and they are **children**) are burned. Don’t even know if any of them is the one who introduced the “accelerant” into the situation or not; five kids are hurt. Have some decency. WSB has a national reputation as a site that manages to have some, because we have rules and some great participants who generally honor them. But in some cases it’s impossible to write a rule that would cover every instance of all-out offensiveness. My heart hurts for whichever unfortunate parent/s/guardians/relatives are sitting at bedsides in Harborview, but I’m glad that no one’s burns were reported to be life-threatening.

I saw two little dogs running loose, south on 16th Ave SW at Trenton. I was able to get one of them (brown/black mix, red collar, very friendly) but the other one ran off, going east on Trenton. A photo is posted on the Pets page.

I’m with Group Health and their rates are going up in July. Starting the search again b/c my rates will be going up by $65 ($30 of that b/c I’m jumping age brackets). The little I’ve looked at the above site, it’s been really helpful. Nice to see everything all in one place. You could also talk with an insurance broker. NC, which is based in West Seattle, is devoted to restoration of the West Duwamish Greenbelt, doing work now that will not really be visible for decades. It is one of the local nonprofits that WSB supports by co-sponsoring a major event – in this case, we co-sponsored their brunch the past two years.
For anyone interested, there is more Soundway background in some of our coverage from a few years ago, when the preservation plan moved toward a final council approval – necessary because, since the Soundway portion had been declared city right of way, a street vacation actually had to be approved to change that status, which in turn meant the plan had to go to the Design Commission.

Nature Consortium’s monthly free guided ecohikes have in the past gone right by the “native lightpole” DBP features here – next one, according to their calendar, is 1 pm Friday, June 15th. We took one a few years back and that’s where I first heard the tale of the lightpole … it is pretty jarring to come across!

this community is very lucky to have WSB. It’s unique to us. Not all communities have something like it. Nextdoor.com obviously helps those communities more.
