i said it a year ago, and i stand by it. (evidently, the politics forums close after some arbitrary expiration date, or i would have bumped the thread.)

nonetheless, i’ve been seeing tea-paw in the news lately.

despite presiding over a tragic and fatal federal highway bridge collapse, i think he’s in the running!

come on! i can’t afford big bets, but i’ll leave a couple of drinks in the well at coffee houses, bars, and BBQ joints.

    tea-paw for VP, anyone?

You couldn’t possibly be talking about the union labor built bridge that collapsed …. the one with the 5 million lbs of new road surface and twice the design capacity from 64K to 140K cars per day… and the Federal Transportation mandated safety upgrades that added another million lbs of dead load.

Great design review eh? Who did that design review? Pawlenty? No?… state and federal engineers? yes. No wonder the gusset plates failed. That would be an engineering failure…

If Romney wins… can Bush finally retire? 12 years is a long time to be president and acting president. I don’t think it matters much anymore redblack. Daffy Duck in a head to head with Joe Biden would be ok

    yeah, i’m talking about the union-labor-built american-steel-constructed I-35 bridge.

let’s see how long the cheap chinese steel in the spokane street/first ave on/off ramp lasts.

anyways, we’re taking bets on pawlenty.

    wanna play?

Won’t happen. Chinese cement too. You should be reading up on your Prez’s new trade agreement. Even this is one left and right can agree on! You still owe me a drink for the drubbing in

let me mull this over. i’m a private – some would say reclusive – person, so meet-ups with internet folks are right out. maybe jo would be willing to serve as an intermediary.

Tim p… the man who was willing to bet your life that bridge maintenance could be postponed.

Yup..that makes him a Republican hopeful

    Obama was born in Kenya

See how that works? No matter that the certified original birth certificate was posted on line. Like the NTSB final report was posted and.. the one that blamed .previous maintenance and design flaws. The gusset plates couldn’t handle the weight. It was actually in the process of maintenance that caused it to collapse

On November 13, 2008, the NTSB released the findings of its investigation. The primary cause was the under-sized gusset plates, at 0.5 inches (13 mm) thick. Contributing to that design or construction error was the fact that 2 inches (51 mm) of concrete were added to the road surface over the years, increasing the dead load by 20%. Also contributing was the extraordinary weight of construction equipment and material resting on the bridge just above its weakest point at the time of the collapse. That load was estimated at 578,000 pounds (262,000 kg) consisting of sand, water, and vehicles.

first of all, why it is a bad sign that i don’t want to meet people from the internet? i think it’s weird that so many people do want to meet complete random stalkers – i mean strangers ha ha! – like they can’t handle the peace and quiet of their own thoughts. or they need some kind of validation.

what i meant was that, by internet and social networking standards, i’m reclusive. i don’t fit the new normal. i liked the old normal just fine. i don’t have a smart phone, and i don’t want one.

i’m a well-adjusted, friendly, polite person; but i find other people loud, rude, impolite, and lacking subtlety. i keep to myself and i mind my own business – assuming that, like me, most people don’t want to hear every random jackass’s two cents on every subject – but i’ll lend a hand if there’s a need.

and, no, i’m not on facebook.

secondly, i want to see willard’s birth certificate.

thirdly, the state knew that that bridge was structurally deficient – as are so many across the country – and pawlenty had the authority to fix or condemn it. he didn’t.

but i understand that you’ll defend it and explain it away. which makes him a perfect republican candidate for veep.

ok dude.. just throwing it out there… y’know.. a just in case.

On the Pawlenty thing….. did you see the contruction equipment that ended up in the river? The were removing millions of pounds of over parge when it went down. That type of construction of gusset lateral plates was found to be a defective design… and there were are are many still in use. They were in the process of fixing it. Bad engineering is bad engineering.

I Wonder how many times Romney is going to call on the great Sarah Palin Rogue Maverick to campaign for him…

Still say if he chooses McCain…he has a stronger ticket.

Redblack, I hope not, but that call is very much in line with Romney’s instincts. (If I were betting, I’d say #1 is Rubio, #2 is Tea-Paw.)

Romney’s instinct is to land small jabs, don’t make mistakes, and win his fights by decision. (Tea-Paw) Picking Rubio would be a knock-out punch, which is less Romney’s style…though very effective, especially against an opponent with a glass jaw! (see what I did there?) =)

Yep, waving his magic wand of Hope is much easier than achieving something through the political process.

I believe most people are smart enough to see through his desperate little games by now.

He accidentally cemented Rubio’s VP spot.

As a side bet, how long will Obama keep Slow-Joe Biden around?

Hillary? No, she’d have him taken out!

I can guarantee you that Joe Biden will still be Obama’s VP running mate. Hillary isn’t interested (although some people feel that Biden and Clinton should just exchange jobs)

Joe as our point man to the rest of the world? I give Hilary this, she served the interests and the policy of the president. I think she is great secretary of state. She’s a liberal no doubt. But she is liberal who REALLY knows the world in a bigger, fuller way than her husband. It would be wise counsel to listen to her. It was “the vetting” process for her. I dare say too.. she knows more of the national character. She has looked into the eyes of troops in a combat zone. She knows the prices we pay when we go to war. Lastly she has seen a world full of radicalized politics usually comes with bad consequences. So left she may lean..but she is smartest thing we have out there that might take THE job.

JV: so congress intentionally standing on obama’s… umm… tail is considered political process?

man, that group of clowns couldn’t decide on – let alone implement – a trip to the bathroom.

kootch: well, to get hillary, you gotta vote for obama. willard is gonna bring the neocons back, and i don’t think anyone wants to go to war with iran.

sorry. the rocks go with the farm.
