That photo is from one of multiple readers who have messaged us to report a sighting of ICE officers at Alki Beach this afternoon. The sender, who also sent this video, said the officers, in unmarked vehicles, converged on that vendor stand along the sidewalk, then left apparently without detaining anyone.

Found on parking strip in front of 3436 61st SW. Looks like it was stolen and all rifled through. Many items broken open but the nice bags, lunch box, and thermos are intact. Well worth picking up if it belongs to you.

A stretch of Harbor Avenue is lined with “no parking” signs right now because of what you might consider the Seafair Torchlight Parade floats’ side trip – some of the visiting floats park on port property (Jack Block Park/Terminal 5) before and after tonight’s parade, and need the full width of the street when they convoy in and out. (The parade is on Alaskan Way along the downtown waterfront for the second year, and starts on the (corrected) north end at 7:30 pm, heading south. We checked with Metro earlier this week for those taking the Water Taxi to the parade; it’s following its regular Saturday night schedule.)
So reports Samantha, who sent the photo after seeing this and spotting the couple nearby: “They looked so happy.” No backstory, but – congratulations!
Thanks to everyone who’s sent photos and/or reports of that huge cloud visible looking toward the Cascades. Even before researching, we guessed it had to do with the wildfires, and that’s what Kevin Freitas, who sent the photo above, says: “Pyrocumulus cloud from the Little Giant Fire.”

Came home from work to this probably stolen and ransacked abandoned van in front of my house. Location is 18th and Elmgrove.
It’s been reported to police but is still there as of moments ago.
5:37 PM: No visual yet (aside from X clips like this) nor full ID, but for those who thought the World Cup flyover jets might have been the Blue Angels – same type of jets, F/A-18 Super Hornets. We saw them over West Seattle twice, after they took off from Boeing Field, and when they headed back for the actual flyover just before 5 pm.

We hadn’t heard of The Big Banana Car until Max sent us that photo from an encounter at Don Armeni Boat Ramp today. But it of course has its own website and social-media feeds. We don’t know who the guy on the left is, but the bearded guy in the car is clearly the car’s creator Steve Braithwaite. He’s been based in Michigan but according to this post from two months ago, he’s becoming a “full-time nomadic banana-car driver.”
That photo arrived via text tonight from a reader who wrote:
Totally horrified to see this in our Arbor Heights neighborhood. This is at the intersection of 39th/108th/Marine View Drive … I walked past this spot this morning and the sign wasn’t there.
It might by explained by this photo texted by another reader earlier:
That reader said simply, “Wanted to share that ICE is arresting people in the Arroyo/Arbor Heights area.” We’ve heard second- or third-hand of other recent reports around West Seattle posted in social media, but this is the first we’ve received directly since the ones shown here a week ago.
6:19 PM: Sometimes wrecked cars turn up on streets because they were stolen and dumped. Sometimes their owner got into a crash somewhere else and has the car towed as an interim measure. Charlie says this Subaru Outback’s appearance on an Admiral block remains a mystery, and 911 just said to file an online report, so they asked us to publish it in case someone’s looking for it:
This smashed-up car showed up on our block sometime yesterday. All windows are down, car seats loose in rear cargo. Seems abandoned to me. Perhaps someone is looking for it.

That texted photo – with POLICE/ICE visible on at least one vest – came with one of two reports we’ve had in the past hour of apparent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in West Seattle. As the street signs confirm, this was south of Westwood Village, as the texter pointed out. Another reader messaged us less than an hour ago:
ICE was just by the Salvation Army on Barton and 16th they had a brown skinned person in handcuffs. Came back by and they were gone. Police vest with faces covered and an unmarked black SUV, blacked windows.
Flashing lights. Paramilitary gear.
And this photo is from Delridge/Cloverdale on Thursday – one officer’s vest also clearly says POLICE/ICE:
That reader wrote, “I saw two men get taken into custody.”
These are certainly not the first ICE sightings in our area but the first ones in which we’ve received photos with personnel in vests marked not just POLICE but also ICE. We’re reporting it because of public interest, as with the other types of public-safety responses we cover.
This morning we published a photo of racquet-sports and auto items found near 35th and Fauntleroy. Now we’ve received a possibly-dumped-items report from Victor, a few blocks north:
Someone seemed to have dumped a collection of CDs on our lawn today? I have to wonder if it’s related to the items found near 35th and Fauntleroy. I’m hoping I can reunite the CDs with their owner.
I’ve attached a picture as they were found, but I went ahead and brought them inside for now …

Today my son picked up a journal that has been sitting on the side of the road at Admiral and 42nd for a couple of days. A quick scan reveals no name or phone number in the journal (though we didn’t search closely). I’d like to find the owner as this seems like it’s important to someone.

If you have a view across Elliott Bay toward the Space Needle, you might have seen that drone show tonight; Kevin Freitas recorded part of it from one of West Seattle’s highest hills. Princess Cruises presented it in honor of its new ship Star Princess, which is making its way up the West Coast to Seattle, where it’ll start its first Alaska cruise season on Sunday.

I found a Mercedes-Benz wheel lock kit on March 25 in Morgan Junction. The wheel lug nut key is inside which will be
necessary for the owner to remove their wheels. Perhaps it was left on the sidewalk by mistake, but it looked as though it had been thrown in the bushes. The owner can contact me for pickup in Morgan Junction.

Thanks to Stewart L. for the photos of a drone show over the downtown waterfront tonight, as seen from Harbor Avenue. With Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, the show commemorated the 10th anniversary of the finale of the two-season Disney-produced animated series “Gravity Falls,” and the launch of a new “visual history” of the series, a book titled “The Art of Gravity Falls.”
(It was meant to be seen from the Overlook Walk on the waterfront, so the images visible from here were reversed.)
Texter says it’s been at 37th SW and SW Andover, door ajar, trashed interior, all day. They’re calling police in case no one’s already notified them.

Remember Friday’s reader report about a Coca-Cola truck getting stuck on the ramp from the Admiral CVS to the alley on its west? Apparently this U-Haul truck’s drivers missed it. This time multiple readers sent us tips and pics of the stuck truck.
That one’s from yesterday’s tipster, who reports that this one managed to get free after 40+ minutes.
