READER REPORT: Alki Beach ICE sighting

That photo is from one of multiple readers who have messaged us to report a sighting of ICE officers at Alki Beach this afternoon. The sender, who also sent this video, said the officers, in unmarked vehicles, converged on that vendor stand along the sidewalk, then left apparently without detaining anyone.

    They were camera shy.

There were a lot of those Proud Boys at this scene. One unmasked arrogantly responded to a passer by about being unmasked, pointing at himself with a s**t eating grin, obviously enjoying the moment. His actions proved the reports of poorly trained goons cosplaying law enforcement.

I live in the building behind the fruit stand and just talked to the fruit guy, while he was packing to leaving. He is a USA citizen and has Mexican heritage. He was really scared and very upset. He showed me the video he recorded of the incident: 8 cars and over 10 agents that showed up to arrest him. He felt very unsafe because ICE harrased him and treated him like a criminal. He shared that all other fruit stands were not here today. He thinks that there was an order issued today for ICE to come to Alki Beach because is not a safe space any longer.

Yet if there was an incident requiring an emergency response (beyond, ya know, covering for their own actions) they would be nowhere near the scene.

I’m so mad and feeling helpless. Anyone want to organize a march to city hall? What the hell? How can we help their legal fund or something?

To find out other local actions go to West Seattle Indivisible’s page at westseattleindivisible.com and look under events and actions. There are a variety listed and virtually every day more are added.

Neighbors, if you’re not already, it’s time to start carrying whistles (and learn the signals to use): https://linktr.ee/wa.whistles

It is horrible that ICE was out harassing a man just working for a living. What a horrible way to treat people and massive waste of taxpayer money. Shame.

  • AO July 28, 2026 (8:58 pm)

Nauseating. ICE isn’t making our community safer. They aren’t making anything great again. They’re terrorizing our neighbors.

  • Derrick July 28, 2026 (11:00 pm)

Ten agents. 8 vehicles. No crimes. This is a PERFECT example of how we as a society are failing to have a rational prioritization of our resources. What a horrible waste of OUR money.

    • N in Seattle July 29, 2026 (9:43 am)

Hey, they didn’t kill anybody. So it wasn’t that big a waste of money.

And, from their viewpoint, nowhere near PERFECT.(Do I need a “/s” signal here?)

  • bolo July 28, 2026 (11:53 pm)

Getting close to the end of the month. Will they make their quota?

  • anonyme July 29, 2026 (6:17 am)

Where is DOGE when you need them?  This is an abuse of power and a waste of resources.  It’s infuriating to think of the valuable programs that have been cut while billions are being poured into the nonsensical and unconstitutional abuse of citizens.

Didn’t the governor sign into law all ICE agents cannot cover their faces in Washington?

    • bill July 29, 2026 (12:49 pm)

The supremacy clause trumps (ha ha) State and local laws.

Even if the state or city had jurisdiction, if I were a cop I would not want to tangle with these armed, unprofessional clowns.
  • Als July 29, 2026 (8:17 am)

Awful, vile and truly evil to harass and intimidate. I guess the signage indicating it’s unlawful to stage or process immigration enforcement activity along Alki doesn’t matter?

    • Sparta July 31, 2026 (10:44 am)

Supremacy clause as Bill points out above.

  • wscommuter July 29, 2026 (8:48 am)

My blood is still boiling over the arrest of the other day of the gentleman who’d been here for 23 years, married to a US citizen and working/paying taxes and all.  Just f*^%$ing inhuman.

  • moongdaal July 29, 2026 (9:08 am)

10 officers to arrest one law abiding CITIZEN. What a disgusting country we’ve become.

  • WSBReader July 29, 2026 (9:23 am)

GO AWAY ICE!!!! NO ONE WANTS YOU HERE!!! Covering your faces like cowards! Harassing and kidnapping hardworking people! GO AWAY!!!

  • pidgeon point vet July 29, 2026 (9:29 am)

I support our law enforcement officers. Best have your paperwork in order! Thank you do our men and women in blue! Keep up the great work!

    • Disappointed Neighbor July 29, 2026 (4:10 pm)

Kindly keep your gleeful support of open air racism to yourself. This is vastly different from what is expected of the typical day to day behavior of a law enforcement officer. I suspect you know that and are trolling, but sitting back and cheering on this bigotry fueled violence is disgraceful and despicable regardless. Be better.

I’m extremely confident I saw 2 off-duty ICE officers stalking/scoping the Farmers Market on Sunday afternoon. One was wearing a “we the people” shirt. They both had things strapped to their legs, like mace or telescoping batons. They both stopped to smoke cigarettes near two farmers loading their van in the parking lot behind beer junction. They then walked through to California and stood and smoked cigarettes while they watched the farmers packing up. They weren’t going anywhere, just watching everyone. I alerted the market’s management.

  • Plantdad July 29, 2026 (9:38 am)

Also according to Iceout.org, they kidnapped someone’s gardener on the 5000 block of 41st last week

Another way to help your immigrant neighbors is to join us at the West Seattle Adopted Corner. Info on the project available https://ndlon.org/adopt-a-day-labor-corner/ To sign up for more info or to join the West Seattle corner: https://www.mobilize.us/ndlon/event/856331/

  • Jro July 29, 2026 (11:55 am)

Let this sink in: 10 officers, 8 vehicles to racially profile people, which is illegal but there are only 2 OFFICERS TO PATROL ALKI and only 10 officers available to actively patrol the entire Wes Seattle area to respond to actual violent crimes! But we are making our country safe right? Are we great yet?!?

    • anonyme July 29, 2026 (1:19 pm)

I don’t know that we ever were “great”, but at one time we had something resembling respect in the world.  Now we have only contempt, and justifiably so.  Your point about law enforcement is absolutely true; the only folks who live here without fear are the actual criminals.

  • Jean July 29, 2026 (1:27 pm)

I don’t know how those officers can stomach what they do. No conscionable human would ever willingly make their paycheck, their livelihood, off of this.

  • Thomas July 29, 2026 (1:36 pm)

Racism is expensive and this is what a majority of a certain demographic voted for.  Good job.  Perhaps talk to your meemaws and peepaws instead your faux outrage in the comments.

    • alki_2008 July 29, 2026 (3:07 pm)

tbf.  There were plenty of citizens that previously immigrated across the southern border that also voted for this. They thought only the violent criminals would be targeted and had no problem with that. I think most people don’t have a problem with violent non-citizens being deported actually. The mistake was believing that the net would not be cast as wide as it has been.
