redblack: I don’t think liberals are going to shut up and go away. I think we are at the beginning of a civil war. It is quite likely that the war of words will quickly escalate into more violence as progressive liberals get angrier about not getting what they believe they deserve from other people.

Since the days of emancipation, there has always been just two kinds of people in America. Those who believe in uniform individual rights, and those who believe its ok to take the fruits of someone else’s labor by force. After the Civil War, the concept of socialism offered a new form of slavery that used a series of complex shell games to obscure the forcible transfer of sweat equity. Just look at how liberals went from wanting to protect US jobs to siding with Wall Street elites to take advantage of slave labor in countries with no human rights. It’s just pathetic to watch people marching for equality in clothing made by some of the most inhumane societies on earth.

Fortunately, we are not a democracy, so progressives don’t have the right to trade away human freedom for free and cheap stuff. The checks and balances of our constitutional republic seemed to have kicked in as socialist greed reached a tipping point under Obama. The efforts of liberals to transform America into a socialist “neo-democracy” can’t really happen–even if a vast majority wanted it. Anti-subversion enforcement will invariably prevent it–just like it has in the past. I am sure liberals will be shocked at how many people would welcome a new era of McCarthyism.

Stefan Molyneux is a diligent fact checker. You should check out his video podcast “The Horrible Truth About Barack Obama’s Presidency”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsWzfhvvOgg&t=61s It provides a lot of interesting solid-source statistics for those willing to have their beliefs challenged. Molyneux also has a fascinating video about McCarthy too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wljpYZ8wejA –its long, but provides a lot of foundation for the polarized strife we have today in this country.

    https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/regressive
regressive. … To understand the word regressive, it’s helpful to know that its antonym, or opposite, is progressive. When something is progressive, it tends to get better and more advanced. Something that’s regressive, on the other hand, gets less developed or returns to an older state.

Kid Friendly Footwear @ Again & Again will be closed on Friday, January 20. At this pivotal moment in our nation’s history, we pause to provide all members of our community with an opportunity to take action for a welcoming, positive future.

This inauguration day will not be business as usual. Along with millions of Americans, we reject irresponsible, unpatriotic racism and bigotry. America’s families demand and deserve leadership that treats them—and above all, their children—with decency, fairness, and respect.

What can we do? One New York Times columnist advises, “You need to augment your outrage with actions that are affirming, behaviors that reinforce principles and values.” Gather, volunteer, donate, educate.

For those who are not celebrating 1/20/17, there are many ways to come together and take a stand. Actions will take place throughout the nation on Friday, Saturday, and beyond.

In Seattle, events include a demonstration for social and economic justice from 5-8 pm in Westlake Park on Friday, and a family-friendly Womxn’s March on Seattle, starting at Judkins Park at 10am Saturday, concluding at 4pm at Seattle Center.

We stand with Cascadia and the majority of Americans as champions of optimism and sustainable evolution. We celebrate progressive American values: promoting public health, supporting women and all families, and embracing diversity.

We will act and speak out to protect and defend our environment, our dignity, and our freedom.

On Saturday, January 21, our shop will be open holiday hours (10am-5pm). We support the citizens participating in marches and demonstrations all across America.

    Peace.

    Literally.

In my college physics lab was a massive poster that I have been utterly unable to find since I learned to use the intertoobs to shop for stuff and things. The poster was about the size of an old school projection movie screen, maybe twice as wide as standard. It showed a series of 3D perspective based maps of the universe, starting with Earth and progressing to the observable universe. It was one of those simple and utterly defining things in my life that really put it all in perspective. I have looked off and on for one of those wall sized posters for a while now, and only tonight have I found the series of images that were the poster. Its a link to a wikipedia image.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observable_universe#/media/File:Earth%27s_Location_in_the_Universe.jpg

Those were the graphs on the poster(‘s?)and it contained perspective (scale?) blow-ups and other information such as relative size and distance axes. I dont know if this was a custom thing, but I would absolutely love to have a wall size copy of that poster.

If there is anyone who went to WSU in the late 90’s who saw that poster or anyone with actual internets ability who could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated!

    Thank you.

    good question
i came back after dinner and looked it up..

“if everyone doesn’t “spend” their voucher dollars? Where does the leftover money go?
The money rolls over to the next election year’s funds and will be available if and when we have a year when the city is spending more than it’s taking in.”

have more questions? here’s one place to find the answers. it’s where i found the quote i posted.

This is separate from whether West Seattle Produce is awesome or not, but just making sure you’re aware that the previous “corporate retail” proposal died last year and now there’s a new proposal for two apartment buildings. Some commercial. This proposal is much closer to what the site is zoned for than the CVS was, so it’s a lot less likely to fall through.

SeaWorld has had the unmitigated gall to release this appalling piece of propaganda:
    https://seaworldcares.com/tilikum

They suggest that Tilikum died of old age at 36, after living a “long and enriching life” at SeaWorld. There is abundant documentation available proving that Tilikum was kept in total isolation, without any kind of company or stimulation continually since the killing of the trainer. Most days he hung seemingly lifeless in the pool for hours on end.

Look up what happened to Unna, one of Tili’s female progeny. As her SeaWorld trainer forced her into a slide out in front of the crowd, something slid out of her. It was her dead calf, which sank to the bottom of the pool. Unna was made to finish her performance.

    I hate humans.

it appears that the totem pole donated by Daddy Standley is not the pole you are looking for. The pole he donated in 1939 was the first of 3 poles erected at Belvedere Park.

However, Daddy decorated his home at California and Vine, and nicknamed ‘Totem Place,’ with totem poles. One of them may be the totem pole you are looking for.

If the cat was originally a stray here in WS, go back to the date in the Lost and Found area of the Blog and see if she was listed. You could even post her picture and particulars (Where she was found…) in there.

Several very good cat rescue organizations in the area if you need help or information trying to place her.

There are others that are not listed that can be researched online. You could also try speaking with Furry Faces. They may have some ideas.
    http://www.furryfacesfoundation.org/ On Facebook too.

I would also contact local Vets. Sometimes they know of someone who has recently lost a pet (or they could help identify her) and is ready to adopt again. That is how a friends parents got their kitty. Try putting up posting at the Senior Center too.

Wish I could take her, but I adopted a cat in May and she too has an attitude with other cats.

Thank you for taking the time to find her a forever home. I know how hard it is to give up a cat like this especially when it is not the first re-home and she is obviously a sweetheart.

Good Luck and please keep updating this thread.

Does anyone want a cat? This little girl is not quite a kitten anymore – about a year old, we believe. She’s friendly as anything. It was hard to get a picture of her because she kept! Rubbing! Up! Against! Me! And she purrs loud enough to be heard in the next room.

    Yuki - 1

She needs a home where she’s the only cat. She’s friendly with humans, but she’s very territorial with other cats. She came home as a stray to the home of a friend, who found she didn’t get along with the other cats in their house. We had the same experience, sadly. We tried for three months and they’re not getting along any better. Does someone want to take her? She’s litter trained. She’s so terribly sweet and so loving, and she deserves a good home where she has the run of the entire house.

    Yuki - 2
(As far as names – she was called Ginger before. We started calling her Yuki girl after an anime because she has giant expressive anime eyes. Not sure what her real name is yet.)
