Topic: Shopping for Orcas
Ready to start your holiday shopping? Please consider the many beautiful items in the online Lolita’s Gift Holiday Auction, benefiting our endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales and wild Chinook Salmon. Original artwork, jewelry, unique experiences, in all price ranges … you can even buy raffle tickets on an autographed Rick Springfield guitar. (Should you be so inclined!)
The auction runs through November 7, and bidding is easy! (Too easy, in my experience … ) https://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/auctionhome.action?auctionId=219759473
Although sponsored by Orca Network, auction proceeds will benefit distribution of the new documentary Fragile Waters, which tells the story of these two iconic northwest species and what we must do to save them. Fragile Waters will have its world premiere at the Friday Harbor Film Festival on November 7.
Just an Non-Partisan ;-) reminder that after you mail in your Ballot, to track it:
https://info.kingcounty.gov/elections/ballottracker.aspx
I just checked the status of mine, and it was received and signature verified!
I have to say that I’m quite impressed with KC Elections, and the Ballot Tracker System.
I mailed my Ballot in, two days ago, on Thursday from a USPS dropbox in White Center, and as I was about to check on it just now, realized that I had missed that day’s pick-up at that box.
So, presumably, they didn’t receive it until this morning, or perhaps late yesterday, if there is some special expediting for them.
It always sets my mind at ease, to find out that everything is copasetic, as I always fear some little glitch, like signature not being an absolute, totally non-deviating match, from what they have on File.

Have you ever been? It’s super fun, especially on Halloween. Plus it supports our West Seattle Senior Center!

Yep! It’s happening! The couple months planned meet-up of WSB Forum Members Picnic, down at West Seattle’s own, beautiful, Lincoln Park!!
Hotdogs, and soda pop/water will be provided, other than that, it’s Potluck, so there should be plenty of food to go around. So, please come, even if all you bring is YOU!
If you are an introvert, don’t worry! (Seriously) I have talked to several Forum Members over the years, including some that have become friends, that consider themselves introverted, even though around the right crowd, which this is, they might seem like the Life of the Party. So, come on by, even if for just a little while, and we’ll all be extroverted introverts together!
Our Shelter, #1, (of course!) is near the south end of the Park, (nearest the Ferry Dock)
Here’s a tinyurl of the Google Map:
Annnnnd one to the Parks Page showing the Shelter:
Metro Rapid Ride “C”, southbound, stops at Rose St. right in front of the Park northbound, I believe, stops almost directly across the street
For those driving; please remember to NOT leave any valuables in your car. Lincoln Park is a beloved gem, but like any such Park, has a decades long history of car break-ins. Also, wipe that GPS thingy suction cup mark off the windshield, which the presence of has led thieves to break-in hoping the GPS is under the seat.
