Wes C. AddleParticipantI saw some gentleman peering over the abandoned Brickyard BBQ fence on Saturday. I walked by it on Sunday and saw a “Sold” sticker on the sign.
.
Here’s hoping we get a new BBQ joint or anything not Pizza, Mexican, or Thai!

WSBKeymasterIt was marketed as a development site –
The listing does now say “pending” (as in, purchase pending) but there is nothing on file with the city yet indicating any new plans for the site, nor will we know its new owner until the deal is closed.

Thanks for the heads-up, though! – TR

wakefloodParticipantRoger that. OK, so that leaves Lithuanian, Congolese, and Maori as options?

Wes C. AddleParticipantA good cuban joint would be nice :)
October 14, 2014 at 7:45 pm #814686
wakefloodParticipantTrue dat. Especially if they can do a functional facsimile of Paseo sandwiches. Hey, wonder if Paseo is thinking about expanding again???
October 14, 2014 at 7:46 pm #814687
wakefloodParticipantI would trade some portion(s) of my anatomy for a local Paseo.

squareeyesParticipantLithuanian = nice!, no idea about Congolese, but Maori = depends. Traditional hangi food or something along the lines of muttonbird (fishy-flavored fowl)? Hangi is similar to luau – all cooked in a covered pit and very smoky unless done where the heat source is geothermal. My pref is for the smoky which is great for the meats/poultry but the pumpkin and sweet potatoes can absorb a bit too much smoke (in my limited experience).

Wes C. AddleParticipantI’ve been craving a Paseo for months. I need to get out there before they close for Winter.

wakefloodParticipantSquare Eyes! Nice. I was half tongue-in-cheek about the cuisines as I literally have never had Congolese food.
But your description of hangi reminds me that my partner makes me cook the veggies off the grill because she thinks they get too smokey. :-)
And WCA, yeah, I did a run in Sept. and promised myself I’d get back there before they went dark.
I’m serious tho’. I’d like to start a petition to get them to open here in WS. I could probably make it pencil for them on my tab alone. ;-)

JoBParticipantwe are very lucky here
i was trying to think what i wanted that i couldn’t get here on the peninsula
maybe my wants are limited
but i can’t think of any
although you do have me jonesing a cuban sandwich:)

JanSParticipantone thing I haven’t been able to get here on the peninsula is a good East Coast Italian sub sandwich. There are subs, but…not like I remember them. And, for those who don’t know, there is no mayo and mustard on them…
but that’s another topic for another day.
What we don’t need in that spot is a nondescript, square, look like all the others, apartment bldg…
