Just an Non-Partisan ;-) reminder that after you mail in your Ballot, to track it:

    https://info.kingcounty.gov/elections/ballottracker.aspx

I just checked the status of mine, and it was received and signature verified!

I have to say that I’m quite impressed with KC Elections, and the Ballot Tracker System.

I mailed my Ballot in, two days ago, on Thursday from a USPS dropbox in White Center, and as I was about to check on it just now, realized that I had missed that day’s pick-up at that box.

So, presumably, they didn’t receive it until this morning, or perhaps late yesterday, if there is some special expediting for them.

It always sets my mind at ease, to find out that everything is copasetic, as I always fear some little glitch, like signature not being an absolute, totally non-deviating match, from what they have on File.

I live in the Junction neighborhood and I still have not received my ballot. Should I be concerned about this yet? The ballot tracker says it has been sent but does not give an exact date. What are you supposed to do if your ballot does not come in the mail?

null_pointer – You should have received your ballot by now. Call King County Elections (number is on website) and they will tell you what to do.

Mike- I have worked as a temporary Elections worker opening ballots since 2012 and I want to let you know that the County and State puts a lot of effort into making sure every vote is counted. If there is a problem with your signature verification, Elections will attempt to contact you multiple times to verify your signature. Every ballot is reviewed (that’s what I do) to make sure the scanner will read each vote and if there is a problem a trained team will make sure the correct vote is entered into the system. You should make a visit to Elections in Renton on Grady Way to see the process for yourself, every voter can walk through (a special loop) and see what happens at each stage of ballot verification. We work really hard to make sure every voter’s voice is heard!

Ballots were mailed 10/14. According to http://www.kingcounty.gov/elections/news/2014/October/14-general-election-ballots.aspx:

“Voters who don’t receive a ballot by Oct. 20 or who have questions should call King County Elections at 206-296-VOTE (8683).”

    Thanks for the info, bertha.

Admittedly, my concern is a little “paranoia” on my part, with a dose of Murphy’s Law, as I worry that my sig might not match, or some other one in a million glitch, and that by the time I find out, the only way to resolve it would be to rush somewhere in person, if it’s too close to Election Day. I usually put down my e-mail addy, as the point of contact should there be an issue, but then worry that my lower-case writing might not be the most clear, as for decades, I have printed in all caps, when writing longhand.

Usually, even though I may not get the Ballot filled out and sent back in within a day or two after receiving it, I generally get it in in time, with a decent cushion of time before E-Day. Although on this last Primary, I think, I may have forgotten to send it in until a week or less before E-Day.

I’ve heard stories about how closely scrutinized the sigs are, and since I Registered to Vote 38 years ago, and know my sig has changed (rather drastically, I believe) since then, I worry about it. Although I went into Elections, Downtown, two years ago to update my info, (was in Transitional Housing in Pioneer Square at the time), I don’t recall if I signed anything then that would have provided and up to date sig.

But yeah, very impressed this time and last, with how quick everything was verified. I’ve had it happen a few times, where I’ll check a couple days or so after mailing the Ballot in, and the Site will state that the Ballot was received, and is awaiting Sig Verification, then when I check again in the next day or so, it will confirm Sig Verified.

Yup, vote early, and often. Just kidding.
