Based upon what WSB posted about the Spokane Viaduct work to start next month:

…”Consultants who attended last night’s SWDC meeting on behalf of the city said some of the first work you’ll see will be in August, when a water main will be replaced on a section of lower Spokane Street; the first longterm closure is scheduled to be eastbound Spokane, for about a year and a half starting in fall.”

Detour will be

Eastbound traffic, north via East Marginal Way to Hanford, then to 1st Ave. S to Lander to cross the tracks.

This means traffic will be HEAVY from Spokane to Lander, the major bike cross getting from West Seattle to the northbound bike lane on the east side of Alaskan. Those heading north from south of Spokane St will likely encounter much heavier traffic.

As for when it happened last, that’s the same thing the police told us. However, having lived in WS for 17 years now, I recall many previous traffic shutdowns — didn’t get to see the situation the past few years because I had to work at the TV station producing fireworks broadcasts for three years, then last year we were out of state on the 4th, but this year we will be all over WS covering what’s happening by day and night.

JT, if you go back and read those comments about the tapping, I don’t think anyone was jumping all over you, as much as we all simply had different opinions. https://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=5589 I’m an alternative practitioner and patient and I am the last person to tell you my way is the only way. I use both allopathic and alternative therapies, often concurrently. It works for me. Your mileage may vary. Justin posted in the comments thread on our post from this afternoon but got caught in the spam filter, where I just found him almost four hours later. Same thing happened with Zippy’s opening – lots of people showed up, they ran out of stuff. Having never opened a food-service business, I have to say, do you overproduce or underproduce for day 1 … how do you make that decision?

They put together the business within a few months of making the decision. Probably a low-risk venture, given the location and the fact they both have other careers. Right before interviewing Justin and Ann on Wednesday afternoon, I interviewed Sean and Sofia Goff, who are putting together Cafe Revo, something they’ve dreamed of for at least 15 years … big operation, big plan, bigger business, probably a whole different situation. (That story will appear on WSB over the weekend.)

I tried them last week. Outstanding. Great customer service. I had a problem with paying 20 bucks for 2 crepes and 2 coffees though. It’s going to have to be a special treat thing if at all.
