I only recently became aware of this “fad” myself, like in the past few weeks. Don’t remember from exactly where, perhaps in one of the “Activist” e-mails I regularly receive.
Anyhoo, for those on Facebook, the Anti-Rollin’ comments are……entertaining:

Okay I did a little more research on this Rolling Coal fad. It’s really quite troubling. Some coal drivers seek out Prius cars and bicycle riders and intentionally “smoke out†the victims. It’s really messed up and terribly dangerous. If you have a few minutes to waste, some of the quotes in this video would be amusing if they were not so troubling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09BZ6ikBZ54
Wake, sorry for my lack of response. I’ve been on the phone with every auto mechanic in West Seattle asking if they can make my Subaru shoot out tons of black soot. I wanna join the protest. I’m sick and tired of being able to breathe (relatively) clean air.
Seriously, I’m pretty sure I have little in common with these folks who “protest†clean air. I can even prove it. Last night I was at the market garden buying some local veggies and the WSB was taking pics. You can see me here: https://westseattleblog.com/2014/07/happening-now-first-week-for-high-point-market-garden-farm-stand/ Look close – I’m the guy in the safety vest on a bicycle with my daughter on the back of my bike. My bike gets me all around these days – work, childcare, store, etc. I often don’t even turn the car on for days at a time. Please don’t think that just because I didn’t vote for Obama that I support these ignorant clowns who take perverse joy in polluting our world.
Wish granted! The Tat’s Truck will see you this Saturday, July 12 (10:30 until 2PM) at Hans VW.

We welcome applicants to come by and see how much fun we’re having working on the Tat’s Truck! However, we won’t be able to do any interviews on site this Saturday. Please send your resume to info@tatstruck.com, if you’re interested in joining our team!
Hello! My name is Margaret and I am an intern at the World Affairs Council.
This summer, Mexican youth leaders chosen by the U.S. Department of State will arrive in Seattle to learn about Peaceful Conflict Resolution. These are outstanding high school students from low-income communities throughout Mexico here to develop leadership skills to implement anti-bullying measures and ideas on alternatives to violence in their neighborhoods! Want to make a connection with one of these exceptional visitors, practice your Spanish, and learn more about Mexico? Apply to be a host! https://www.world-affairs.org/programs/international-visitors-program/homestay-program/
We are urgently looking for hosts for SIX of these students: July 21-August 2!
And, if the dates don’t work for you, consider hosting a different program:
North Africa & the Middle East (MEPI) – July 24-30 – only TWO host still needed!
China – August 12-23 – hosts for FOUR students still needed
You can reply to this post or email me at ivp6@world-affairs.org with any questions. Thank you for considering opening your home to one of these students.
He shared the SPD reply, published here.
Surface traffic jam safer than Viaduct traffic jam? SPD explains decisionmaking behind 5-hour, 4-mile Highway 99 closure
And he said SDOT was preparing its reply. Two weeks have passed, certainly I’ll ask but also citizens are welcome to ask directly and you’ll have chances in person in the next two days – he’s guesting at the Admiral Neighborhood Association meeting Tuesday night (though the topic is the parks district ballot measure) and he has a “Little City Hall” public availability Wednesday night at Youngstown.

Technically, this business is not just West Seattle, but it can benefit us all here. It’s called Instacart ( instacart.com), and it’s a new grocery shopping service for the area. Right now they deliver from 3 different stores: QFC, Costco (yes, Costco – and you don’t have to have a membership – they do! Just groceries though – no TeeVee delivery..hehe), and they just added Whole Foods. The company operates out of San Fran, just started here about 2 months ago. It’s free to join, delivery is not expensive – if you spend over $35, one hour delivery is $5.99, and 2 hour delivery and over is 3.99 – first order is free. If you spend under $35, del. prices go up a bit. And if what you want is not on the online list, you can special order, the more details the better…it’s like having a personal shopper ! I used them today…the shopper was terrific, delivery when I wanted, no product substitutes….cant ask for more.
Want to try them? Go through me, and I can get you a $10 off coupon, and yes, I would make 5 bucks off an order. My email is mmfeelgood at gmail dot com :) Hard to imagine they’d deliver in an hour, though…but…they say they do. I ordered at 3pm , had it between 5 and 6pm.
There are also some small kitchen appliances, silverware, knives, etc listed under household products.

Fun! What’s been described as a golden pheasant has previously been sighted all over the west side:

I’m tired of the money politic dynamic. I’m ok with fighting fire with fire. Using the system to break it.

Hi there – I think you called and spoke to co-publisher Patrick earlier – I’m sorry he mentioned “Hi-Yu Parade” because if you search for that, you won’t find anything, since that is not the parade’s name. It’s the West Seattle Grand Parade. If you e-mail me and tell me what the photo looked like, I will go looking for you, probably easiest as everything on the site ultimately goes through me as editor. Here is the 2010 story – was this it perhaps?

I don’t know how many other shoes there are that can be dropped but this sad saga has got to be coming to a close at some point soon.

How many unknowing clients have signed up for a membership since this was reported first? Once this thing goes Chapter 11, those memberships will be impossible to cancel, and the automatic payments will just keep rolling out of your account. I feel really bad for anyone who has signed up recently. I am thankful we successfully canceled our membership many months ago.
Are you guys talking about there being 2 until recently? I thought 1 of the pair had been missing since 2012 but I’m not in that area very often to have noticed how many are walking around.

Bonnie offered this guess but couldn’t get it into the thread:

She points to a story we ran last month about a change in billing dates and how that might lead to uneven bills:

They seem to have been keeping varying hours and tweeting the daily plan. If you don’t use Twitter, you should still be able to see the most recent tweets via the account’s home page:

I’m sorry, but I cannot seem to post to this thread (I have problems all the time!) so I’m just starting a new one. Maybe WSB can combine the two.
This is the thread I have been trying to post to: https://westseattleblog.com/forum/topic/crazy-city-light-bill
Anyways, WSB reported awhile back about the Seattle City Light bills and this might be part of the problem?? https://westseattleblog.com/2014/05/what-youre-missing-if-you-dont-read-the-newsletter-with-your-seattle-city-light-bill/
Just bumping this up, because the cost of prescriptions pretty much ate up the funds in Elizabeth’s account.
She needs money for gas, and other expenses, as well as shampoo and conditioner.

Hi Lifeinteralia, and welcome to West Seattle!
I don’t know if there are any general LGBT Groups in WS, but if you have kids, (or according to a post that answered someone’s question, are considering kids) here’s a recent thread in regards to a Group of LGBT Families:
https://westseattleblog.com/forum/topic/gay-and-lesbian-families-in-west-seattle
Wouldn’t hurt to look it over, and maybe even contact the Group, to see if it may fit your needs.

Trapster is a great app. All you do is tap the button when you see traffic enforcement (or traffic issues) and it alerts all other drivers before they get to the area (who have the Trapster app, of course).
Not that I ever speed. But it’s good for collisions alerts and other stuff too.

Your neighbor needs one of these:
Sorry the heading search is in Russian and the google link looks like gibberish, but believe me this is exactly what you/she needs. Weatherproof satchel on a rolling frame. I have one of these I bought overseas and haul my groceries home in it here in west Seattle every_week. The best kind has a flat top surface so you can attach/bungee another bag on the top.
Patience, this link works, I promise –

I have one of these, have been hauling groceries home in it for 10 years on two continents.
