4:05 PM: Thanks for the tips. Avoid California/Hanford for a while – police and SFD are there because of a crash, reportedly involving a pedestrian or bicyclist. NB California is blocked. We are on the way there to find out more.
4:09 PM: Injured person is being taken to Harborview.

4:23 PM: Police tell us a driver in a white van hit a bicycle rider and then left the scene. The rider, male, is being taken to the hospital. They’re still looking for the driver. Traffic Collision Investigation detectives are coming to the scene so NB California, closed at Hinds, will be shut off for a while.
8:36 PM: We’ve heard from relatives of the rider in the comment section. And we just heard back from SFD spokesperson Kristin Tinsley, who says he is 28 years old and was in stable condition when taken to the hospital.
1:11 AM: Police are investigating a crash in the 6100 block of West Marginal Way SW, and have just told dispatchers that southbound WMW will be closed “a while” at the scene, with just one northbound lane open. The crash is reported to have involved a driver and motorcyclist. No major injuries reported, so far.
1:32 AM: One SB lane is now open.
11:02 AM: SFD spokesperson Kristin Tinsley tells us the motorcycle rider, a man in his 20s, was taken to a hospital via private ambulance, in stable condition.

A week and a half ago, we reported that the low-bridge enforcement cameras would be installed this week. SDOT says that’s happening tomorrow (Thursday, December 10th), and that means a traffic alert:
New cameras will be installed Thursday, December 10. On Thursday, the Low Bridge will be reduced to one lane (so that vehicles can travel in only one direction at a time) from as early as 9 a.m. to as late as 3 p.m. A flagger will be present to guide people who are authorized to drive on the Low Bridge. Please be aware that the flagger is present and be prepared to stop if you are driving in either direction.
The cameras are expected to be activated in January. Here’s an update from SDOT on exactly how the camera enforcement system will work, as well as a refresher on current rules regarding low-bridge use.

5:27 PM: Thanks for the tips. SDOT says there’s a crash at Delridge/Findlay; we have reports that Delridge is blocked further north, at Hudson. One report is a possible driver-vs.-pole crash – on our way to check. Avoid tbat section of Delridge in the meantime.
5:50 PM: Delridge is blocked north of Brandon.
6:10 PM: The crash is by the P-Patch. Closure starts at Hudson. SPD tells us the car was stolen; the driver is not seriously hurt, and is in custody. Adding photo. They’re awaiting City Light to deal with the pole, so this might be closed a while.
7:43 PM: As noted in a comment below, Delridge is still closed. Metro also is continuing to reroute the 120 off Delridge between Oregon and Orchard.

By the way, this isn’t the first driver-vs.-pole crash SCL had to deal with today/tonight – on Capitol Hill, a crash is reported to have taken out TWO, and caused an outage (which this did not).

Just east of that intersection at Delridge Way SW, SW Thistle will be closed for several weeks, starting as soon as tomorrow. That’s part of what’s coming up in the ongoing street/utility work preparing for next fall’s RapidRide H Line launch. SDOT says its contractor will close SW Thistle between Delridge and 20th “to complete temporary signal work and to demolish and rebuild the sidewalk.” Some driveways will be affected intermittently. Other notes include:
*Once SW Hudson reopens, SW Brandon will be closed on the east side of Delridge. This too will include some driveway impacts
*Puget Blvd SW near the Delridge P-Patch is expected to reopen this week
*Electrical upgrades at the bus stop on the west side of SW Andover are expected to start this week
*Electrical work continues in the sidewalk between SW Orchard St and 21st Ave SW
*Vehicle-detection loop installation and concrete work at the intersection of SW Oregon and Delridge has been rescheduled to mid-December

9:40 AM: Thanks for the tips and photos! That crash scene is attracting attention along northbound West Marginal Way SW [map], with a pickup-truck driver hitting and breaking a utility pole.

The SFD log shows this was reported before dawn, just after 5:30 this morning. Texters say repairs are still under way; we are headed that way to look shortly. The log also indicates no medic unit dispatched, so apparently no major injuries, but we are following up with SFD to confirm.
10:24 AM: Truck and pole are still there, and the NB lanes are coned off, but traffic is getting by both ways. The City Light map also shows a 2-customer outage in the area.
1:12 PM: SFD spokesperson David Cuerpo says the driver was an 18-year-old man with no reported injuries.
