Beware:   The light on the north side of the First Ave Bridge at East Marginal and First Ave is blinking red…  hence the backup.

Traffic backed up and not moving from the bridge and marginal way. Folks have waited over an hour

Traffic backed up all the way into White Center because someone at SDOT didn’t think to fix the flashing lights after the 1st Ave Bridge!?!?This was going on Saturday, way to make it a priority for the Monday commute guys!

Ended up taking over an hour to get to the central district. Had to skip 1st Ave bridge and took Boeing Access Rd to MLK. Oof!

With regards to the Delridge project — Does anyone know why there are little to no lane markings on the parts of Delridge that are under construction? I drove through Saturday evening and almost got in a head-on collision because there weren’t any lane markings i.e. cones, arrows, a sign saying “keep to the right,” etc. Curious if anyone has had a similar experience? I hadn’t driven on Delridge for a while and couldn’t believe how messy the road is. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised given that it’s SDOT, lol.

I have emailed SDOT about that twice and both times they said they would talk to the contractor. The cones stay up about an hour before they get knocked out of place. And those little yellow lane dividers  on the tarmac last just about as long – useless. Email SDOT and complain so that I’m not the only one – they are probably tired of hearing from me.Also, I see workers just standing around staring at their cell phones when there are cones laying all over the place. Can’t they just wander over and set them back up or is that “not in their job description?”

Thanks, Auntie! Good to know. I sent an email to Sam Zimbawe/SDOT this morning as well.

Do you have an email we can direct our comments to? I agree, the signage for lanes, etc. on Delridge is abysmal, and exasperated by the fact that the configuration changes constantly. I sometimes drive through and think how is construction signage this poor allowed in a major city.

Do you have any insight on the bus cancellations you mentioned in the article? I’ve gotten seven texts from Metro just about the 128 and the C line; I got one as recently as 12:06.

It took an hour to get home from Harbor Island to West Seattle today. A commute that takes me normally 15 to 20 minutes this is absolutely crazy.

  • John December 14, 2020 (11:08 pm)

That was brutal today. Took me an hour from the bottom of highland parkway until the bridge….then drove to everett. Audiobooks for life!

Sorry, comment time is over.
