I have to say I had such a wonderful day. I went to Lee’s Asian restaurant for lunch and it was great. They have a great lunch menu. I had honey walnut tofu/shrimp. It was soooo good!
The hot and sour soup was great too.
Then I went for a hair cut at Shanghai Hair Studio. This place is on Alaska near Cupcake Royal. It is a hole in the wall place owned by a married couple. Julie (wife) was so sweet and she did a great job on my hair. And it was only $22!!!
Then later after walking around Lincoln park and Alki I went out to Bamboo Bar & Grill. I tried their crab cake burger (?) Never heard of that before! But, it was really tasty. My compainions and I shared their nachos!!! YUMMY!
I also had their jolly rancher drink-Very good!
It was nice to be able to stay in West Seattle and support local businesses!
Cottage cheese mixed with dill weed, cherry tomatoes and cucumber slices to dip. Yum.
Cottage cheese, tomato, hard boiled egg, salt and pepper…yummier!
Cottage cheese with VINE RIPENED SUMMER tomatoes, little salt and pepper, and all swirled together. Sometimes add a few bits of avacado… Could eat it for b’fast, lunch, and dinner daily during summer time!!!! Yum!!!
Love cottage cheese. Always Darigold!!! Yum!!
YUM! I like mine with lots of pepper. But then I put lots of pepper on pretty much everything. But dipping kettle chips in it is also darn good! I usually go for the lucerne (safeway) 2% or 1%. I agree that the Nancy’s is yucky – too sour tasting.
SarahScoot, I am absolutely with you on the Darigold v. Nancy’s! The Trader Joe’s organic isn’t too bad, but for eating plain Darigold trim is the best.
I mix cottage cheese with salsa instead of sour cream–yum.
Now I have to try dipping potato chips in cottage cheese. Yay, I know what to have for lunch!
Crushed up bits of Kettle Chips in cottage cheese. Yum.
I absolutely love cottage cheese. Darigold trim cottage cheese (purplish lid) to be exact. I’ve tried other brands and never enjoyed them quite as much; the worst was Nancy’s cultured organic brand – yuck!
My husband enjoys dipping Tim’s Luau BBQ potato chips or French Onion Sun Chips in cottage cheese. Gotta admit – it’s a pretty good combo :-)
Oh, and Costco’s generally the most cost-effective place to buy cottage cheese, as it comes in a 3-lb. tub for less than $6.00.
NewGuy…curious..where on the east coast are oyu from?
The wave is really a nice thing to do. If it’s not your cup of tea, maybe a head nod would work. I live on a side street where two cars can pass in either direction, but sometimes drive the block over where there’s parking on both sides and only one car can go down the street at a time. So, I let you in, you let me in..yes, but there’s invariably someone who comes right after who I have waited for to come down, who thinks that they can, too, and then doesn’t even look in my direction as they pass. Like it’s simply my job while they come down one after the other.
Yeah, acknowledge people with a smile every now and then.:)
We went to Full Tilt Saturday night for the first time. Yummm, Mexican Chocolate (just the right touch of cinnamon). Now my son is CRAZY for pinball. Went back on Monday with a pocketful of quarters…closed! So sad! We’ll definitely try again!

Yup, another dog thread.
Dog owners watch out for Crazy Lady. I was accosted by an insane woman at the junction for leaving my dog in the back of my truck – under canopy. She was lecturing me loudly on animal cruelty and proclaiming herself as an animal activists ready to call the cops. Apparently she believed my field Labrador was ill suited for such extreme temps and lack of air. It was 49 degrees out and last I checked my canopy isn’t pressure sealed to the bed of my truck. Anyways, watch out for this nut (heavy set, red cheeked, and dilated eyes). She loiters around the junction all day long. No joke.
yum, crab…I went to a crab feed there a couple of years ago…you won’t go hungry :)
we LOVE Alki Mail! my husband is a big EBay-er, and he is in their quite a bit sending things off. Don and the rest of his staff always ask him how he is and what he’s up to, ask about me, inquire about our dogs, and make him (and me) feel exceedingly at home while there. and during this December snowstorm when we were homebound for days, Alki Mail was a beckon of warmth and yummy coffee that was always open while we were out trudging through the snow! and they do have cool, quirky local wares. I got a cool Alki T and a mug from them for Christmas that I love!
Oh my- donuts are my favorite food after icecream. I love Dunkin Donuts- why can’t there be one within 100 miles of this city??? The BEST donut I ever ate was from a little donut shop on Eastlake. I believe it is where Sitka and SPruce is now. ANyways, their donuts were perfect- I’m sad they closed up shop.
I like QFC’s maple and chocolate bars. I tried the Original Bakery just yesterday- the creme filled chocolate one was good, but I didn’t try the maple bar because there wasn’t enough frosting on it to my liking. I love frosting! I think that is why I like QFC’s donuts.
Oh, I do believe there is a big difference in donut preferences too- cake vs the lighter, airier kind. It’s like thin-crust vs. Chicago deep dish pizza.
I’m getting hungry… now that I’m thinking about donuts, a nice beignet would be wonderful. Some of my earliest memories involve enjoying warm beignets in New Orleans. Yum!
Sorry, I cannot attest to the quality of classes at the community centers, but I do know that PCC offers a wide variety of high-quality classes (many of which are vegetarian) through its PCC Cooks program. Most of them are $35 for PCC members and $40 for non-members. Each class typically teaches 3-4 dishes, many with some hands-on instruction.

They also offer FREE Walk, Talk, and Taste tours that are very informative. They include a tour of the store, free samples, and information about various ingredients. You also get recipes, 30-minute menu plans and a shopping coupon.

WSMom…that’s my question…isn’t there some kind of regulation for this kind of thing? guess I should use my google function, huh…
Love Tom’s Special…has alays been my fave pizza. Luciano’s makes a pizza with that pepperoni on it…yum….
hey…it was in kidding, folks…lighten up, for goodness sake…the sun is shining, and I didn’t read anything insulting in what JoB said, and knowing jiggers the way we do on here, I’m gonna guess that he didn’t take offense (if you did , jiggers, tell me to shut up – hehehe). So…if he’s not offended, why should you three be.
Can we leave personal things out and get back on topic?
Jt..good that you brought up movie critics. I’m not sure who you like or dislike there, but Michael Medved isn’t one of my faves, so I never listen to what he has to say. Siskel and Ebert were damned good, in my opinion…but even then, I’d go to something that they liked, and hate it – lol…yep…guess that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)
Jiggers…if you ever get to Revo…the antipasti de giorno is really, really good…that and a caesar salad would be a great dinner for me…oh, and maybe one of those foofoo drinks…the Toblerone Revo is…well, yummmmmmmmy – lol…
ahhh…bagels…there used to be a place where Abbondanza is now called Pacific Bagel…downright yummy bagels…and they had yummy bagel sammiches, too. Had many , many of them, as the daughter worked there when she was a teenager. I miss the place (my caboose doesn’t – lol)
Zatz A Better Bagel is not a NY bagel..they’re good in their own right, but way to airy, fluffy for me…I like my bagels denser..

ok, the “burger” link doesn’t work – lol…but there are pictures on the “donut” link…and the deli link has some really interesting things on it…miso soup….bulgogi…garlic chicken…mmmmmm
jelly filled, cream filled, lemon filled…yummmmmm
The coupon page is really out of date – lol…
it’s right next to Arby’s on 4th….I may have to pay them a visit, venture off the island – lol…
I have never eaten at Tom Yum Koong…good food? I’ll have to stop by and get a take-out menu…
WS4Fun, unless they have discontinued the service, Tom Yum Koong Thai food in The Junction introduced delivery some months back. Even had a big banner out front for a while touting it.
yeah, but will they deliver a smoky martini, too…had some damned good ones there a while back….
I live near Luciano’s in the Adm. District…they have a GREAT spinach salad…feeds you more than once…pair it with a pasta dish…or a hot sandwich…yum…not too expensive…and they have fast delivery…and the del. guy actually has an accent..makes it a bit more authentic for me – lol..
oh, and yummy hummus, too :)
and you can order online, too…
