RainyDay1235MemberI don’t bother with the burritos (which if I do, i eat half and save half). But the burrito bowls are awesome. You control the portions…rice, beans, your choice of meat and topping with a little lettuce on top. Share some chips and dip in it and it’s even better. YUM!
March 26, 2009 at 5:16 am #661700In reply to: Setting the record straight about Chipotle . . .
HMC RichParticipantJoB, I agree about the size of their burritos. Too much for one meal. I work in Bellevue and Issaquah has one. For a month on Tuesdays (I think) last year we received a major discount because our company won the monthly business prize. I found their food very pleasing to the taste buds.
Sadly, I am addicted to fast food. I work in TV, whaddya expect! Pizza companies buy stock in TV stations, or at least they should. I also hate it when Mickey D’s does their monopoly game, then after that is over they make available the two big macs for a buck or some such deal,, then after that two sausage mcmuffins with egg for $3. It takes enormous will power not to eat there when I am in a hurry. I don’t have much will power. Some days I drive right by McD’s right into a Jack In The Box. Now that’s will power!!!
If you are in the Eastgate area of Bellevue and like lots of Teriyaki, go to Teriyaki Time right by Chaplain’s Subaru. They serve too much too.
I like Guaymas in the Junction (I always forget cash and the checkbook) and Guadalajara by Endolyne Joes (like Joes too!) and
the cuisine at Cactus at Alki. Fry Bread!!!!!! Yummmm. I feel like Homer Simpson.
March 25, 2009 at 11:36 pm #661808In reply to: Irish Breakfast at Celtic Swell
grrltraveler2007MemberI can’t wait until cruiser (hubby) gets online to weigh in with this one! :) He just got back from visiting family in Ireland (being his home country), flying with Aer Lingus and said the food was worse than it’s ever been. Our previous experiences had all been great – friendly staff, good service, good food (with airline food, it’s relative) and drink. This time, not so much. I guess everyone is cutting back.
As far as Irish food goes, well I guess you need to be married to an Irishman to appreciate some of the dishes. I typically like my food spicy and Irish food is NOT that. If you are looking for anything besides good old meat and potatoes, then Irish food isn’t for you. I had a hard time coming to terms with that when I was just a ‘visitor’.. Cruiser makes the best Shepherds Pie and even more to die for corned beef and cabbage (although they don’t actually use CB in Ireland but we can’t find the bacon they use, not American bacon). Yum, yum. Comfort food at it’s finest.
As far as good Irish food around here, we are still looking! We actually got an Irish breakfast at Mick Kelly’s that did not come with the traditional (or any) bacon! Very disappointed that hubby had to ask for it and then it was..gasp!..American bacon. Not the lovely Irish bacon. Sigh.. Celtic Swell, we have just not tried the food since we had just about the worst pint of Guinness there 2 years ago. The young lad poured the pint like it was Bud. (crying..) It was sacrilege.
That’s all. I hope Cruiser posts! :)
March 25, 2009 at 11:02 pm #661556AnonymousInactiveThanks for the info JayDee. Being the lone conspiracy theorist here on the blogforum gets me a lot of strange looks and responses like the one from Vincent and his minion CM. But you waltzed right up to the compound like a good neighbor. I like you for that.
I like the vacuum sealed package idea, I just haven’t found one I really like yet. I’d like to find a manufacturer that has more universal offerings than most of these basic consumer oriented solutions I’ve run across as they all seem to have the typical trappings of “you have to buy this, this, and this from us and you can’t get them anywhere else and there are no aftermarket solutions or support”. In my mind, the “Champion Juicer” of vacuum packaging would be ideal; solid, simple, and you can run anything (within reason) through it and it’ll work.
The 2012 thing is fun and exciting. To think the End of Days is right around the corner is rather invigorating despite the fact that I really understand this is yet another Illuminati ploy wherein they slather disinformation in order to distract people from what’s going on around the world, actually.
I’m not so great with participles so pardon me if that last paragraph left anything dangling.
I’ll hang with Mormons as opposed to folks from other sects on most days. I like the Masonic secrecy, the notion of rituals, and the fact that the rank and file don’t evangelize – they leave that to the Missionaries. LDS Missionaries are arguably the most well-versed in terms of defending their faith compared to other sects of Christianity, and those little uniforms make them very presentable and non-threatening. They receive extensive training at the MTC at BYU in UT.
There are numerous outdoor recreational opportunities in Utah as well.

swimcatMemberI am one of the few people who do not like Chipotle. I just don’t get it; I’ve tried it many times and still have not acquired a taste for it. And Tacos Guaymas- what happened? I went there on Sunday and the enchilada sauce tasted like dish water. It was gross- virtually inedible. For good Mexican food I head to CapHill- Galerias. Yum!

TraciMemberI love Chipotle, but be aware that it’s not as healthy as you may think. The chicken burrito sets you back over a thousand calories!
I get the veggie burrito and even that’s like 850 calories.
It’s a good splurge every once in a while though, yum.

March 24, 2009 at 4:03 pm #590209Topic: Who Actually got TARP $$
in forum PoliticswundrgrrrlParticipantAnother post spurred a few thoughts ~
Who actually has received TARP $$ so far?
Which WA banks have been bailed out?
If I have $$ with any of them would I change that?
The following link shows all the recipients, what state they are domiciled, and how much they’ve received.
Surprisingly, none of my accounts are with banks on the list, so I can’t really answer the last question. I’m well below the FDIC limits though, so I probably would just ride it out!
Interesting link though ~ thought I’d share…

JackMemberDyson. Picks up dirt we didn’t even know we had. Kind of yucky to know how much there was in the carpet. I think it picked up enough cat hair to make another cat! My mother had one and I helped her vacuum the house when we visited. I was hooked. WOW. It is more $ but if you have carpet then it’s worth it. We have the pink one! It was on sale. –Jack
p.s. my mom just purchased a small throw rug and she can’t use the Dyson on it. The Dyson is so powerful that the rug gets sucked to the bottom so hard it can’t move!

JiggersMemberThe yung hore sucks.. The food makes me kak(not good chinese and no rice either), the karaoke mics over their are full of ecoli and spit, plus the place smells like a toilet. The only thing going for them is that they make a decent pour. It’s out of my way. So unless I’m desperate to go,u won’t find me in their.

If that’s the case, this thread has reached an all-time low.
I’m, personally, not interested in who has and hasn’t had to clean up human waste. Yuck!
March 19, 2009 at 11:24 pm #661116In reply to: SUPERRAVE- Mashikos
datamuseParticipantMashiko is one of my favorite sushi places in Seattle. Definitely yummy. The only thing I haven’t liked there is the sea urchin, and honestly, I don’t know that any sushi chef in the world could make sea urchin appetizing to me. (Taste: seawater. Texture: sandpaper tongue. Ugh.)

AnonymousInactiveOMG….chicken masala YUM!!!
I had mixed grill, mushroom rice, and saag naan there last night and it was fantastic.
You know they do a lunch buffet? It’s $7.95 and they have lots of wonderful dishes available. I like the “naan balls”; those balls of dough soaked in some kind of sugary syrup. It’s like the the doughy debris left on your plate after eating pancakes, all mashed together in to a ball and re-soaked in sugary goodness.
Lunch time!
March 18, 2009 at 6:21 pm #660928In reply to: AIG bonuses
JoBParticipantThe payments that were made to AIG started in September of 2008.. when Obama was no more than a gleam in the democratic eye…
And by the way, they were made without congressional approval.
For those who are challenged by time lines.. Obama’s presidency has not yet reached it’s 100th day..
George W Bush.. a republican.. was in control and the fellow handing out the totally unrestricted AIG money was not a democrat.
Unlucky for George that the financial bubble burst before he could leave the room… even if it hadn’t, it was his administrations duty to regulate AIG… and it is more than obvious that they failed miserably.
with more than just AIG…
But sticking to AIG… apparantly it was politically expedient to move their oversight into the savings and loan division where the regulators had neither the time nor the expertise to regulate them.
That said… has it just now become news to many of you that vested interests have the ear of our elected officials because they gave them all tons of money to finance their elections?
Yup, it’s time to demand better. Demanding more accountability would have been a good thing during the last administration.. it’s crucial to our survival now.
HMC Rich… if we throw the b…ards out… who will we replace them with? The same party that brought us this mess in the first place?
Wouldn’t that be kind of .. well.. dumb?
March 16, 2009 at 8:35 pm #660607bsmommaParticipantYummy! If you like Shamrock Shakes, try a Creme De Menthe White Mocha! AWESOME!

March 11, 2009 at 11:55 pm #659657In reply to: Do you frequent Cupcake Royale?
TraciMemberI guess I’m in the minority here, but I LOVE Cupcake Royale. They serve Stumptown coffee and have some great frosting flavors. Lavender, salted caramel, irish whiskey…yum! Yes, the cake can be a little crumbly but I really don’t care. The way it bakes all chewy on the top is enough to satisfy me. I like the cupcakes across the street too but find myself craving CR.
About baking them with family, my mom has never been a baker. I’m not a baker. Our idea of baking is a brownie mix, and it’s a little presumptuous to say that baking is a *family* thing. Families establish their own traditions. My family plays cards, some families like sports, some garden, some….whatever. Get the gist?

LexMemberI love it. Good for you SPD. Feel free to start doing the same on 18th ave sw and Myrtle check out the idiots that speed near the elementary schoo. If you follow the law and speed limit you have no reason to complain. for those of you complaining about slow drivers. Thank them for keeping you safe, because in your hurry to get to God knows where because you didnt plan your schedule accordingly they might have stopped you from harming yourself or worse someone else. In a hurry leave 30 min before you ahve to get some place so yu don’t have to hurry or go the speed limit. just be patient.
March 11, 2009 at 7:30 pm #660077In reply to: Good place for breakfast with kids?
QueMemberWe have a 7 year old, and love Luna Park, but Circa is also fab (totally yummy food and they stock a couple boxes of little toys in the back near the coat racks)
Easy Street is fun, but often slow to get seated and can be loud.
Charleston is great of course.
I have also heard that Elliott Bay Brewery has started doing brunch (at least at their southern location in Burien, I don’t know about the Calif location, but might be worth checking out, as they rule as well) and they are SUPER family friendly.
