IrukandjiParticipantI don’t know why it took me until now to get down there. Not too far from home. Guess it was because I needed a notary, and some copies, and an envelope and postage RIGHT NOW.
.
I went in with an obnoxious toddler who peed on their floor (mostly in his pants, but some got away) – ust into EVERYTHING while trying to get this project together.
.
The staff was so kind and helpful, particularly Lou (Lu, Lew?). I realized as I drove away I neglected their tip jar having paid for mail services by card. I OWE YOU, and thanks so much for your help and kindness.

IrukandjiParticipantOh, they serve coffee and have a nice cards & gifts area. I could buy you a latte and make up for my tipping oversight!

JanSParticipantI took a package by there today. I was instructed to leave it for my postal carrier originally (it was super light, postage paid), but, even though I left a note saying please, the postal carrier ignored it. It was about1.5 ft long, 1 ft wide, 6 inches high…and super, super light…so bulky, but not unmanageable. I put it out yesterday, and when I sw it stil sitting in the vestibule last night, I cussed, and left it. Then I retrieved it this morning (one less trip up the stairs – lol), and took it down to Alki M and D…she says..oh, yeah, we can handle that, no problem…
it’s a great place..
USPS not so much…

charlabobParticipantThey are GREAT — and they’re four houses and a dangerous crosswalk from us. There are usually coupons (in the various neighborhood coupon books) for them and their coffee drinks, especially quad nonfat grande lattes, rule. So do the scones. Stop by (and say hi to the charlabob’s and hizzoner when you’re in the area.)

angelescrestParticipantIf this is any indication of who they are:
My mom died in Morocco on Thursday while on a tour. We are a mess and despite the intervention of the U.S. Embassy, we are having trouble getting her back to the U.S. Owner Don absolutely steadied me with great coffee, concern and assistance, as I tried to FAX, scan, overnight extra documents and packages. Moreover, everyone who walked in, including the UPS man, exuded that same concern and care. The place rocks.

MousePotatoMemberI’ve been there a handful of times over the last few weeks FedEx-ing a few packages for work and felt instantly as if I were a long time customer. They recognized me on my second visit and knew exactly what I was up to. I’m terrible with names so I don’t remember the names of the two gentlemen working there but it was a great experience. I live near Westwood but will gladly make the drive to their location to give them my business. They embody the local neighborhood feel that I think so many of us in West Seattle enjoy…

angelescrestParticipantMousePotato (I love the moniker),
That’s exactly how I felt today…that “they embody the local neighborhood feel”…oh, god, more bodies…
Thanks, you guys!

andreaParticipantwe LOVE Alki Mail! my husband is a big EBay-er, and he is in their quite a bit sending things off. Don and the rest of his staff always ask him how he is and what he’s up to, ask about me, inquire about our dogs, and make him (and me) feel exceedingly at home while there. and during this December snowstorm when we were homebound for days, Alki Mail was a beckon of warmth and yummy coffee that was always open while we were out trudging through the snow! and they do have cool, quirky local wares. I got a cool Alki T and a mug from them for Christmas that I love!

IrukandjiParticipantAngelescrest, great to know you found a little calm in the midst of crisis. Hearts out to you and your family. Again, thanks to Alki Mail for great care all around.

JoBParticipantAnglecrest…
i was headed there with my daughter’s package anyway… but i feel it is less of a chore after your post.
I am glad they were so helpful to you.. that is a tough process and i am glad you didn’t have to face it alone.
I hope you get her home soon…

bird87MemberThis is my favorite coffee shop in West Seattle and I’m not alone. All the employees are super nice and the coffee is delicious. I also enjoy the quirky gifts and mailing servces all under the same roof. Oh and their punch cards only require 6 drinks to earn a freebie which is awesome, were in a recession so every lil bit counts :)

alkinetParticipantDon & Sean are true treasures of West Seattle. Just good people, period.
