WesCAddleMemberHonestly… I need to know. On those lazy nights…who will bring the best grub to my door?
PIZZA:
CHINESE:

inactiveMemberPizza: Try Olympia Pizza 206-933-7550
The owners are GREAT people. HUGE menu!
Tell them I sent you :). I was in there tonight. I had a salad, but they’ve got great Greek-style pizza. Sandwiches, calzones….baklava.
Enough?

celeste17ParticipantChinese: is Ho-Win Restaurant. They are on California and I think they are great.
Pizza: I think Pizza Hut or if you want more gourmet I would think Pagliaci’s (?) sp.
I wish Buddha Rushka would deliver.

What TheMemberFor Pizza I typically use Amante Pizza & Pasta…

I like the fact that I can order on-line…Everything I’ve ordered from them has been excellent and they deliver faster than any place in WS that I know of.

JanSParticipantThere’s also the option of ordering online from luciano’s http://www.mylucianos.com Luciano’s salads are bigger than Amante’s. You get more in 1/2 salad from Luciano’s than a whole one from Amante. I like the hot sandwiches a little better at Amante’s. But…I know you don’t care, but..Luciano’s delivery guys have an accent – lol – adds to the ambience..
Chinese: I didn’t know that Ho-Win delivered. Yen Wor delivers, but…there’s quality, and there’s quantity..buyer beware – lol…although I do like their hot and sour soup.
Other: hmmm…ya got me there…

SueParticipantYes, Ho-Win delivers. You can see their menu at http://ho-win.cwok.com/ although I’d add $1 or more to each price – the prices aren’t up-to-date on the website.
I hear rumor that Maharaja delivers, although I haven’t tried it myself.
February 27, 2009 at 5:37 pm #659142
celeste17ParticipantJan-I don’t know how far they deliver but thank goodness that they do. Every so often I have to have potstickers and fried prawns with fried rice. Yum!

WSBKeymasterTom Yun Koong (Thai in The Junction) advertised delivery last year – don’t know if they’re still doing it, but anyone looking for Thai delivery might check. Delivery must be a regional thing. I remember visiting a city we once lived, Las Vegas, a few years back, and seeing that even the fast-food joints like El Pollo Loco had big “free delivery” signs on the windows. Of course, Vegas has crashed since then, but that’s another story …

SueParticipantTR, when I worked in Manhattan, our office had a book 1/2″ inch thick of delivery menus. I could get anything and everything delivered, and usually late into the night. For breakfast, you could often have someone deliver an order as small as one bagel with cream cheese. I don’t miss a whole lot about NYC, but I do miss that!

JenVMemberThe Maharaja also delivers – alas, only food – no booze – but if you’re in the mood for something not Chinese or pizza there you go.
pizza: Pagliacci, hands down every time. the best.
Chinese: never touch the stuff, but I do know Ho-Win delivers
If you’re at the Beverage Place, Kokoras will deliver to you also.
February 28, 2009 at 3:31 am #659146
CBMemberAbbondanza will also deliver to Beveridge Place.

CrystalizedGingerMemberJust a note: I live on Delridge near Roxbury…Pagliacci doesn’t deliver to me :( Although, that doesn’t stop me from calling and trying every couple of months to see if I’ve fallen into their ‘catchment area’!
February 28, 2009 at 5:19 am #659148
BonnieParticipantWe order from Amante. I live in Fauntlee hills and Pacgliacci won’t deliver to me because I’m not good enough for them. Even if they did deliver to me I wouldn’t order from them because of their crappy customer service. We’re GUD. (Geographically Un Desirable)
February 28, 2009 at 5:02 pm #659149
JenVMemberBonnie, I think it’s ridiculous too. When I worked at Pizza Time way back in the day we had the same delivery parameters as well. I think it’s more to do with just WS being such a large area and trying to cut the delivery area down than anything being “undesirable” – because, come on- Fauntlee Hills undesirable? Yeah, right – it’s one of the more tony neighborhoods here. Yet at Pizza Time we would deliver to Highland Park – and this was back in the day when HP WAS less than desirable. Makes no sense.

WesCAddleMemberI guess I should answer my own poll:
PIZZA: We normally go with Lucianos
CHINESE: We’ve tried Yen Wor and Ho-Win, they both seem comparably mediocre. Although they do well in a pinch.
OTHER: This was the reason I posted the poll. It seems like there really are not a whole lot of options in West Seattle right now. I would love a Thai place.
I will try Olympia next time we order pizza. Sounds pretty good. I’ve never been a huge fan of Pagliaci mostly because I don’t care for that style of pizza (thin). It seems like by the time it’s delivered it’s all soggy because the crust is so thin. I like a pizza that you can eat with one hand by the end of the crust. (Aahhh, if only Spiro’s delivered… in IMHO they are the best around… okay, maybe tied with Pegasus)
I will also try Maharaja delivery. I always forget about that one. Good alternative.
No Mexican delivery options?

inactiveMemberre: olympia –
When they moved into the Delridge Valley, they really gave a boost to the continuing economic development of that neighborhood. I really try to support them as much as I can to ensure they remain there as a positive presence.
Also, Olympia Pizza will deliver across the County line and to the Duwamish. They really service the entire peninsula.

don’t know if they’d actually deliver to West Seattle ..because, you know, we’re sooooo far away – lol
February 28, 2009 at 11:47 pm #659154
BonnieParticipantYeah JenV, I was just being sarcastic (of course you knew that though!). I just can’t figure out why Pacgliaci can’t deliver south of Morgan. Years ago we lived a few blocks south of Morgan and they wouldn’t deliver to us. Crazy!
I wish Lee’s still delivered. I remember they used to, but not anymore.
February 28, 2009 at 11:57 pm #659155
angelescrestParticipantI’ve an idea/new concept:
There is great takeout food available. Why doesn’t someone start a little delivery business?
There must be an easy way to order and pay for it, and then have it delivered by someone who could/would charge a flat delivery fee–$5? $10? How much would you pay to have Lee’s delivered? Probably ten to make it all worthwhile. If you could make $20 an hour minimum, that might make sense. You could have those nice Metropolitan roast beef dinners…:)

dawn211MemberHere is a delivery service that will pick up anything for you…

banglesMemberNot sure if Lee’s on California delivers, but they are yummy.

jenny12MemberThe Thi restaurant delivers, but for a minimal order. It’s a bit much of a minimum for one person. Funnily enough, I have ended up picking Papa John’s for delivery after trying a few places. I like ordering on line, and I like that I can order the pizza well done. I’ve never gotten a soggy or greasy pizza. I live their dessert pizzas too. If you live near the junction, they deliver pretty quick. I also think that Garlic JIm’s delivers now? I didn’t care for the chinese place, but I only tried it once.
Good luck! :)

WS4funMemberI wish someone had a great response to this question! Who delivers great take out? I’ve only found Thai food available for pick up, but not delivery. (We like Pailin but Budha Ruksa is the best.) My kids have had Garlic Jim’s pizza delivered when I’ve been out of town and they liked it, but they also like Domino’s! We’d love more options!
