We have a friend who is really happy with Ting
(https://ting.com/rates). It’s on the Sprint network and rates are based on usage. If you are with Sprint you can use your own phone. I personally have a t-mobile pre-paid plan for my smart phone. The plan was a T-mobile web deal a couple years ago (I think Walmart also offered this for a short time); 100 min, unlimited text and web for $30/month. Reception in my house was poor (i.e. I had to go outside) until recently; they must have increased range/frequency(?) of towers near High Point.

Yes, we reported on the crash, and we’re a news site last time I checked. It was minor and happened during the commute and therefore it was part of our morning traffic coverage. It’s even in the headline. If something happens during the 6-9 am window in or near West Seattle, unless it’s (heaven forbid) deadly, it will generally be part of the traffic-watch live updates we have every day.

Because I have to work in a moving car a lot – while we’re heading to breaking news, for example, or if we are going someplace more than a few minutes away and I have to keep working on something until the moment we arrive – I often get to see people’s network names. We have our own mi-fi’s so we would never even try to use somebody else’s, but when I’m connecting to ours and checking it via the pulldown on the Airport icon, there’s usually something funny, something profane, something hostile … So when picking a name, remember that it can be seen by anyone who’s even vaguely in the vicinity, same way you can see your neighbors’ network names … you might recall that’s how it was discovered SPD’s “wireless mesh” was activated even though the cameras supposedly weren’t:

I don’t necessarily dislike the modern design houses. I just think that they have a formula, and stick to it. I don’t see a lot of diverse designs. And some look an awful lot like doctor’s offices.
Row houses? – aka townhouses? I grew up in one, built about 1910…and it’s still there. Reading, PA…has an unbelievable number of “rowhouses”..all sorts of designs. Not everyone on the left coast is totally aware that some of us grew up that way: my house is the one with 3 gray steps…5 bdr, 1.5 bath…

so, I’m a little less bothered when they are built here. But…the big modern,boxy, let’s shove 2 or 3 houses where one belongs kinda things just look out of place in some neighborhoods. I think that new houses can be built that have character, have great design, even have an outside that fits in with a neighborhood and still be quality built, and modern inside.
I looked at aerial views using Google and Bing maps that was within the area between 44th Ave SW to 41st Ave SW and SW Edmunds St to SW Oregon St. I counted almost 600 car parking spots within 1 block of Alaska Junction (SW Alaska St & California Ave SW). This does not include the hidden parking under Jefferson Square, or street parking along 42nd or 41st. My count may be off a little so treat it as an (under)estimate for now. I don’t have a count of pay vs free spots.
There are about 20 handicapped parking spots (~3%). The Junction’s parking map shows about 40 bike parking racks. Each bike rack can comfortably hold ~4 bikes…so that’s ~160 spots to lock up a bike. A bike corral sure would be nice to have, centrally located in Alaska Junction. One car parking spot can typically hold ~12 bikes. Yes, there’s work currently going on with SDOT to install a bike corral somewhere, and 1 car parking spot may be sacrificed. I’ll let you do the math to figure out how much car parking would be gone (spoiler: it’s much less than 1%).
My wife and I always walk to The Junction when we visit, which is ~1 mile each way for us. We spend a few days each week going to QFC during the evenings, and walk past the pay parking lot under Jefferson Square. I always see plenty of spots under there, so I don’t understand the issue with parking. Is the main problem that people don’t want to pay to park, or walk more than 100 feet after driving? I understand the issue for those with limited mobility due to the scarcity of handicapped parking spots, but not for anyone else.

Things are not black and white…there is some gray in there. If the things that the Republican led House sends the Senate would be different, they would give them more consideration…but, no, they get things like doing away with the ACA..
