Make a Difference in One Hour! – Tutors Needed to Inspire Struggling Young Readers (West Seattle)
Reading Partners is a literacy non-profit that mobilizes community volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring to struggling elementary student readers.
No experience is required to volunteer! We seek volunteers who can commit 1 hour/week for a semester. Tutors are paired to work with the same student and are provided with an easy-to-follow curriculum that includes all of the books, worksheets, and step-by-step lesson plans to teach an effective lesson. Reading Partners also has a staff Site Coordinator who is available to support tutors at all times. Volunteers make an enormous impact: on average, students double their rate of learning while enrolled in the program.
Watch this 2-minute video to learn more about Reading Partners’ work in the community:
Reading Partners runs programming Monday-Thursday during the school day at Sanislo Elementary in West Seattle. We are nearing capacity, but are sitll looking for a few special tutors.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Reading Partners’ Volunteer Coordinator, Alexis, at alexis.acciani@readingpartners.org, or at (206) 992-4484.
Topic: Roofer Recommendations
I am in need of a new roof and it looks like its been a while since the last roofer discussion on the blog. Can someone recommend a good licensed and bonded roofer?
Raynproof Roofing (recommended last time) seems to have a disconnected number.
A Better Roofing Co. (206-935-1575) is already on my list from the last discussion as is John Michael Roofing & Skylights (206-201-1148) who is booked out quite a way into the spring, but appears highly recommended. Has anyone had experience with Silver Star Roofing (206-734-3844)? Any other recommendations?
Thanks!
The workshops are set in an open studio setting with much collaboration as one would experience as a design student.
