Make a Difference in One Hour! – Tutors Needed to Inspire Struggling Young Readers at Sanislo Elementary!
Reading Partners is a literacy non-profit that mobilizes community volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring to struggling elementary student readers.
No experience is required to volunteer! We seek volunteers who can commit 1 hour/week through the end of the year (time is running out!).
We have the following session times still available:
9:25-10:10 (Tues, Weds, Thurs)
11:00-11:45 (Mon)
12:30-1:15 (Weds)
2:30-3:15 (Tues)
Tutors are paired to work with the same student and are provided with an easy-to-follow curriculum that includes all of the books, worksheets, and step-by-step lesson plans to teach an effective lesson. Reading Partners also has a staff Site Coordinator who is available to support tutors at all times. Volunteers make an enormous impact: on average, students double their rate of learning while enrolled in the program.

Reading Partners runs programming Monday-Thursday at Sanislo Elementary, with available session times running from 9:25AM – 3:40PM.
CPR Seattle (4222 Stone Way N.) will be holding a Pet CPR & First Aid class this Sunday from 2:15pm – 5:45pm, and West Seattle Blog readers are invited to attend at a 20% discount.

Environmental emergencies (animal bites, snake bites, ticks and more)

* Create a welcoming, safe and fun learning environment for the participants
* Provide direction to instructors/students
* Provide instruction/leadership at site
* Oversee operations at the site
* Implement curriculum
