captainDaveParticipantwakeflood: That’s too bad. I was hoping that you could convince me about why capitalism is so bad in comparison with other “ism’s”. I am very open minded.

JTBParticipantMarket fundamentalism is the concept that unregulated markets will ultimately self correct to address social and economic issues.
It is widely accepted that Alan Greenspan administered last rites to that concept in the aftermath of the collapse of the housing market and launching of the Great Recession when he said in 2009 in regard to his previous opposition to market regulation, “So the problem here is something which looked to be a very solid edifice and indeed a critical pillar to market competition and free markets did break down. And I think that, as I said, shocked me. I still do not fully understand why it happened and obviously to the extent that I figure out where it happened and why I will change my views.” It appears Greenspan is still working on “figuring it out: so perhaps it would be injudicious to wait for his pronouncement before reigning in the free market a bit.

captainDaveParticipantJTB: That’s funny. The sole business of the Federal Reserve Corp is to create market bubbles-at least by example of their track record. The fed is about to burst another one soon. This time, it will be the money itself.
Greenspan’s quote should have been enough for congress to repeal the fed’s charter–if only we lived in a logical world.

HMC RichParticipantThe Koch’s? They are small potatoes compared to the groups that contribute at the top. Take a look at who leads the way? The top donors (This articles Heavy Hitters) aren’t exactly Republican friendly. Your rhetoric again does not match the facts.
https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/list.php
Not until number 28 do you see it basically even out among donors. You want to shut the Koch’s down, go ahead because then every union and other progressive entity that contributes will have to be shut down. Be careful what you wish for. . .
How about ActBlue’s online fraud during the President’s first run for the Presidency. Awful.

HMC RichParticipantNothing better than Democrats fighting each other. . . Especially over a PAC. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/02/david-brock-resigns-priorities-usa-action-115028.html
Did Brian Williams report on Mrs. Clinton coming under arms fire in Bosnia? Hmmmm. Maybe they were on the same helicopter!

JoBParticipantHMCRich..
did you actually read the article on opensecrets that you linked to? Because the listing of who and what is excluded from that list is substantial.
And if you think the liberal dark money exceeds the conservative dark money i have a bridge i would love to sell you.
Cherry picking statistics doesn’t tell the tale.. and you know it.

JoBParticipantHMCRich…
Oooo Ooooo do we get to play the one upmanship scandal game?
shall we do it on the basis of the biggest and best scandal or on the total number of scandals?
I will concede that the conservatives have the numbers game locked.. even if you only count convictions…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_federal_political_scandals_in_the_United_States
the list from Obama administration versus the latest Bush administration alone is a clear victory for conservatives..
and that doesn’t even begin to address those in state governments :(
but the biggest and best…
that could be a real cage rattler…
especially if we insist on actual evidence

HMC RichParticipantUh Huh. Of course I read it all the way through, as I suspected some others may have too. It points out the differences. There are other graphs and lists too. It was very informative. I no more cherry picked than what the original post did. In fact that link I lead people to had explanations and showed the contribution differences. Therefore your Cherry Picking statement is null and irrelevant
This Thread was picking on or at least pointing out the Koch Brothers donations who were at 59. Lets talk about Democrat favored party donors. Maybe I think some of them are wrong or misguided. What a concept! A differing point of view.
Are there any laws being broken by all of these groups? If there are they should be prosecuted or fined. But this is the era of no accountability. The IRS admitted they were picking on Conservatives, Pro-Israel 501c type groups. THEY ADMITTED IT THEMSELVES, but the Left has called it a witch hunt. Is Lois Lerner a liar? Turn it around. What if either Bush had purposely went after Liberal Groups. The wailing and crying would never cease.
And Unless I want to point out hypocrisy (which I and others could do every day but there isn’t time,) I usually only react to posts. Not always but most of the time
Waynester, started this. Why? I don’t know but because the Koch Brothers are enemy number one and an easy target for the left. I didn’t see him worrying about lefty groups, unions, etc. I would like to have him or other point out the donations and philanthropy the Koch Brothers have shown from lefty groups. l will let you guys show how much you care about your fellow citizens. I have done this before but I see a glaring hole. Kind of like Biden’s charitable contributions.
Evidence, The Obama list is incomplete. Whoever wrote that wiki post has not included everything. Maybe if the DOJ and Admin would come clean instead of hiding and using Presidential privilege we would get to the bottom of some of these items.
Believe it or not, I want any law breakers in Government to get prosecuted regardless of political affiliation. I want the government to be clean and work for you and I. But politics is a rough business and most in DC are more worried about their careers more than the people they represent.
Here is the problem. Conservatives want to balance and cut the budget. Republicans want to not have it rise as much as Democrats. Boehner has not stripped the power of the purse as he should have. By passing the latest Omnibus budget he sold his soul again. The Sequestor was Obama’s idea and it backfired on him. When’s the last time lately a Democrat said they were going to cut spending and reduce the size of government? Only when they have a Republican opponent in an election. But it never happens when they go to Washington.
I noticed you called many who are Republicans Conservatives. A conservative is different than a Republican. is this a new strategy? Are you trying to change the definition? Kind of like changing Global Warming to Climate Change? Usually I find evidence from the left only is partially correct, which for you in the Admiral District, it means partially wrong too.
Evidence? It would be nice but even the President had to Give Eric Holder a presidential pass a while back. The most transparent administration ever. I never thought a President could be as bad as Jimmy Carter. I was so wrong.
From a conservative group who makes 25 points about violations because we will rarely see a liberal group do the same. Although there is hope because the Admin’s lying to the press is wearing on the DC press.
