Job Description Summary
Perform a variety of teller services such as processing deposits, withdrawals, and payments. Process automatic transfers and update customer account information. Where appropriate, explore customer needs and cross-sell bank services. Make appropriate referrals to other business units for non-banking products. At all times, provide superior customer service.
Job Details
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teller Activities (Up to 80% of time)
• Provides daily deposit services such as handling deposits, withdrawals, holds, loan payments, travelers checks, stop payments, telephone transfers, direct deposits, cash advances, sight drafts, verifications of deposit, ATM card requests, and other related matters.
• Maintains cash handling within prescribed limits, accurately count, receive and disburse cash, correctly handle mutilated and bait currency.
• Balances cash drawer independently, maintain cash over and short record within HomeStreet’s compliance policy.
Service Activities (Up to 100% of time)
• Consistently demonstrates proficiency in providing exceptional customer service utilizing the STAR (Seamless, Trustworthy, Attentive, Resourceful) qualities either in person or on the telephone.
• Actively listens to our customers by communicating the customer’s value, thereby maintaining a friendly, positive and professional attitude.
• Resolves difficult situations using the HEAL guidelines of Hearing out the customer, Easing the tension, Acting to improve the situation, and Leaving a positive impression.
• Looks for ways to pleasantly surprise our customers, i.e., doing something above and beyond their expectation that makes them feel special.
• Participates in two community events per year.
New Accounts/Sales Activities (Up to 10% of time)
• Familiar with all bank products and services. May occasionally be assigned new account responsibilities.
• Where appropriate, actively takes advantage of all sales opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services to new and existing customers, ensuring recommended products meet needs of customer. Make referrals to other business units for non-banking products.
• Participates in sales programs to generate new customers.
• Must sell financial products and services to meet referral goals and performance evaluation/personal goals.
• Obtains profitability and personal goals outlined in both incentive programs and performance evaluations.
Operational Activities (Up to 30% of time)
• Performs responsibilities such as filing and maintaining signature cards and certificate copies.
• As requested, assists with branch audit functions.
• Follows HomeStreet’s policies and procedures and all regulatory requirements.
• Performs all other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be available to work Saturdays from 9am – 1pm
Minimum 6 months cash handling, customer service, and sales experience, banking preferred.
Demonstrated success in cross-selling banking services preferred.
Strong customer relations skills and ability to communicate and work well with employees and customers in a cooperative, positive manner.
Strong math and computer skills are required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
Must possess good judgment, and the ability to accept responsibility and handle confidential information.
Ability to work quickly and accurately, to analyze information and make decisions.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Requires ability to operate teller and office equipment including computers, adding machines, telephones, typewriters, copy machines, fax machines, electronic credit card authorization terminals, and security devices.
Requires physical exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (1/3 of the time) and a negligible amount of force frequently (up to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move self or objects. Frequent (up to 2/3 of the time) standing. Walking, sitting, bending and reaching occasionally and for brief periods of time.

The Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) is an after school program that serves disadvantaged youth in the 1st — 12th grade who come from diverse backgrounds–representing many nationalities, cultures, languages and religions. Our students are excited to meet new tutors who will inspire them this school year!
Consider this a great opportunity to earn critical service learning hours, to support your neighborhood, or to “try your hand” in the education field. We provide all of the training that you need in order to help a child improve their reading, build their confidence in math and do their homework effectively. You can be a hero in a child’s life!

The High Point tutoring center is open the following times during the school year:
Mondays and Wednesdays for three sessions each: 4:20-5:20, 5:30-6:30, and 6:40-7:40.
Tuesdays and Thursdays for two sessions each: 5:30-6:30 and 6:40-7:40pm.
Volunteers sign up for two hours per week, and are asked to commit to volunteering for six months.
The minimum age for volunteering is 14, and High School students are encouraged to volunteer!

It’s been a while since we’ve had a book-recommendations thread, and I was wondering whether anybody else out there is playing along with the library’s summer reading program for grown-ups, and how it’s going for you.

I love the way they designed the categories for the bingo card–I’m mostly reading novels for this, since that’s what I tend to do, but you could totally do (almost) all non-fiction if you were so inclined.
Host families are needed for highly qualified international high school students attending West Seattle High for the 2015 – 2016 academic year!

All types of families are encouraged to apply to host and there is no “typical” American Councils host family. Families come in all shapes and sizes, including those with and without children at home, young couples, “empty nesters,” single adults, and single parents. OUR STUDENTS
American Councils works exclusively with high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students on programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and U.S. Embassies abroad. These programs are highly competitive: On average, only 1 out of every 50 applicants is accepted. Alumni of the following programs include heads of state, educators, entrepreneurs, and more. They are exemplary citizens of their countries and carry their positive experience of the U.S.—especially their host parent or family—throughout their lives.
Our students are evaluated based upon English language proficiency, academic performance, maturity and motivation, as well as other factors that suggest they will be successful adapting to life in the U.S. and with an American host family.
The majority of our students come to the U.S. as part of four U.S. Government-funded programs, sponsored by the Department of State.
