That site is not part of T-5. It’s part of the “Pier 1” site (NOT port-owned, privately owned) that has been proposed for rezoning and rejected. Mentioned here earlier this year:

So for now it’s industrial storage. Crane parts have been there a long time, but previously horizontal rather than vertical. If you think they are a violation of zoning/code, you would want to complain to DPD, if you can’t find the owner (look up Pier 1 LLC) to take it to them directly first.

If you think the Republican fear machine has and continues to play extreme hardball with John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, then I’ll bet they would be ecstatic to have the Democrats nominate Bernie Sanders. It would make their hyperbolic bs that much easier to spread.

Bernie describes himself as a “democratic socialist,” which is often used as a synonym for “social democrat.” As always, the devil is in the details, but I take it to mean that Bernie favors more regulation to counter the excesses of capitalism, and more government intervention to address people’s needs that are not being adequately met by the balance of capitalism and social programs as they stand today. Think today’s Sweden or Norway, rather than Stalinist Russia.

As far as gubmint inefficiency, that argument can go on forever. Of course gubmint is inefficient; it’s run by humans (or ancient alien astronauts in disguise.) Private companies are also notoriously inefficient, even if they are hugely successful. These days, property tax increases are generally due to voter-approved programs. Hopefully, at some point, you will see a massive return on your investment when you sell; being able to hang on to your house long enough to get to that point is the problem.

In my experience, Tracy generally does not remove posts from a forum thread or remove a forum thread without first posting a comment about why (except for ‘looking for work’ and ‘rant&rave’ violations, which disappear w/out notice.) Sometimes the thread is left up but blocked from accepting further comments.

Last I heard from TR, the ‘report this post’ function doesn’t work; you need to copy the URL and paste it into an e-mail to report potential violations, such as someone calling someone else an ‘imbecile’ as opposed to calling their idea ‘imbecilic’ (although I think ‘I disagree with your idea because …’ is a much more productive approach to initiating a dialogue.)

I do think the forum rules could be much clearer re: criticizing ideas not people, not blaming the person who is in a predicament rather than offering support, etc. I think the rules could be posted in a more obvious place; some sites require a potential commenter to check a box when they log in to indicate they have read and accept the rules. I would kinda hate to see it go that far on the Forum, but simply having the rules on the login page would make them more visible … maybe when the software is updated.

The wording by the OP (JKB) in the ‘disappearing posts’ thread seemed to indicate that the problem was with home page comments rather than Forum comments; it is unclear whether JKB actually e-mailed TR about this.)* The same ‘behavior’ rules apply to home page comments; the difference is that a) you don’t have to sign in to comment on articles; b) the home page comments are actively moderated before posting while Forum threads are only checked periodically; c) home page comments are stopped after 2 weeks; d) the home page attracts lots of comments from non-WSites and, on controversial topics, non-Seattlites (the vast majority of comments on a recent article on smoke in the sky were from outside WS.)

my favorite quote about this whole fiasco is from Megyn Kelly, who said shortly after the debate, “If he can’t deal with me, how’s he going to handle Putin?” (paraphrasing, but that’s pretty close.)

bottom line is that La Donald’s behavior has pretty much assured that the Dems will win the presidential election whether it is Hillary, Bernie or Joe and likely will improve their standing in Congress. Besides the damage he is doing to the R’s already poor standing with Hispanics and women, the crossfire twitsnit between him and Bush00 about ‘anchor babies’ is costing them the Asian-American vote.

He has already pretty much torpedoed Scott Walker’s chances by violating Reagan’s 11th Commandment and pointing out what a shambles the Wisconsin economy is in under Walker’s crippling budget initiatives. None of the other 15 GOOP hopefuls really stood a chance before La Donald declared his candidacy anyway.

Besides, once La Trumpet figures out how much of his personal fortune he will likely lose if he is elected POTUS and his assets go into a blind trust, he will drop out.

Let’s imagine what would happen IF he is elected …

I don’t know about quantification of how many “run-off collisions” involved impaired drivers. We don’t have anything in the archives because typically these are not the kind of crashes we hear about – they tend to be hit-run, rather than hit-and-stay-and-medic-unit-called.

If you read the comments on our stories, some of your other questions have been addressed. Just pointing you there because the forum is not high-traffic on the weekends (especially summer!) and you might not get answers here immediately.

Thanks for the snarky and condescending responses! I did say it was a “quick google” and that I too wanted to know the answer. Perhaps you have some links that say it’s definitely not legal? Most of what I find suggests that it might be against the terms of a lease if you’re a renter, but I don’t find anything that says it’s not legal for a homeowner. And I haven’t heard of anyone getting arrested or sued for renting their home on AirBnB.
