SueParticipantWaffles at Jak’s? I can walk there. I did not need to know this. But I love you for that info. :)
I haven’t been there in years, but I used to enjoy Fresh Bistro’s weekend brunch too. The Bridge also has brunch as well. I do love Alki Café, but tend to only go in winter, and really early in the morning. You can usually get in without a problem them, or very little wait. I tend to avoid Alki in the summer months.

GinaParticipantHot breakfast bar at PCC, always a surprise what will be served.

squareeyesParticipantNot WS but Fonda La Catrina in Georgetown does a great weekend brunch! (10am-3p)

jissyParticipantMaplesyrup — I have done Luna once or twice & it’s good, but WWWAAAAYYYYY too much visual stimulation for me.
Mmmmmm, yes, JaK’s is so good and more outside of the “hood, Both Ways cafe & Geraldine’s!

JoBParticipanthubby mentioned the bowling alley for breakfast this evening.. and i think they do steak and eggs..
September 5, 2015 at 6:25 pm #826896
JoBParticipantMeanders is closed this weekend..labor day weekend.
Miranda simply couldn’t be two places at once.
September 5, 2015 at 6:57 pm #826897
PangolinPieParticipantWhat was the other place?
September 5, 2015 at 8:03 pm #826898
JoBParticipantshe is finishing a charter season as a cook on a tall ship. i’ts the job she took to supplement winter sales…
and to be honest another one of her passions.
check out the zodiac.. very cool ship that sails out of Bellingham
i think it was in Elliot Bay last weekend

JoBParticipantit doesn’t rain but that it pours..
i hope that is as true for good luck as it has been for bad

PangolinPieParticipantHer recent blog post, for those following the story:

GinaParticipantI wish she would get a food truck. Lower overhead, could be run with minimal crew, moved when itchy travel foot strikes, and could come to Sunday Farmer’s market at the Junction.
Well, yeah. Pretty much that I personally want the food back further north. Meanders would be a great name for a food truck when you think about it.
September 19, 2015 at 4:03 pm #826904
wakefloodParticipantThey are indeed open and I’m anxiously awaiting my yummy breakfast!
September 19, 2015 at 5:40 pm #826905
SueParticipantPlenty of seats right now (10:40) – come on down!
September 19, 2015 at 7:15 pm #826906
BrassyMommaParticipantHuh.
I work a block away and have not seen Meander’s open even once since the walkout. Yesterday was the first time the front door was open, but the tables and chairs were in the same place for nearly a month. Only the paper signs saying they were having issues with their equipment was gone.
I work from 7am until 6:30 pm down there, so I am always surprised when I read it’s open. I’ll see a post, I’ll make a note to walk by, and then if I do, it’s always closed.
September 19, 2015 at 8:07 pm #826907
miwsParticipantWell, by the time I got there 11:15-ish, it was full, with just a few minutes wait for a table to open up. (Thanks Sue, ;-) )
So now I have a happy tummy and taste buds, and even got a “Hello”, a smile, and a hug, from Miranda once she caught a quick break and was able come out and schmooze with everyone!

JanSParticipant^^^^^^^ love ..lol
September 20, 2015 at 11:54 pm #826910
shed22ParticipantI love when people expose their own deficiencies, BrassyMomma. Expert in all things everywhere around them and master in NONE. Even I, a casual diner at Meanders, have eaten there more than once since the “walkout”. Not pleasantly, mind you. But evidenced by experience. Where do you work and do you apply the same lack of attention to your professional duties? If so, customers, BEWARE!
September 21, 2015 at 6:05 am #826911
JanSParticipantI ate there the first weekend they were open. Yes, it was a bit of a wait for a table….it’s a popular spot. And the crew was new, so the service was a bit slow, but the food was yummy. Brassymomma, perhaps you didn’t see any activity because it’s only been open on weekends. There were problems with one of the stoves, there were problems with a bit of sabotage to the electrical system, and all the food spoiled while she was at her other job during the week. There was a theft (cash register), by someone who supposedly let themselves in with a key (Miranda, time to change the locks). So…weekends only. Many people don’t work on weekends, so maybe you missed it on your days off :) Also, remember…her hours on the weekends are 9am to 2 or 3pm. They’ve always closed at that time, so if anyone walks by at 6:30pm, of course you’re going to see it locked up tight. :)

JoBParticipanti can’t count the number of times i have wanted to tell Miranda’s side of the story.. but it was never mine to tell.
She got a really raw deal.. fueled by people who should have known better.
I don’t know if Meanders will make it or not. Trashing the business trashed her reputation which makes it even harder for her to find someone willing to step in and cook and manage the restaurant so she can keep that regular paycheck coming in.
But i do know this.. no matter what happens, Miranda will survive…
I just hope we still have Meanders when the dust settles
September 21, 2015 at 5:09 pm #826913
GinaParticipantSo what brunch places are located in West Seattle? And pay for their ads on the WEST SEATTLE blog?
And come without a side of drama?
September 21, 2015 at 7:13 pm #826914
JanSParticipantwell, Gina…you have Salty’s and Endolyne Joe’s…both not without controversy at some point, I’m sure. I kinda stay away from Salty’s…price…and differences in political beliefs. I occasionally go to EJ’s, as I do Meanders. I, too, hope Meanders survives this…and will enjoy it in the present as much as I can ( arse notwithstanding…nor my arteries – lol). It will be what it will be.
September 21, 2015 at 8:38 pm #826915
GinaParticipantPersonally I think Miranda needs a little breathing room, and her Facebook posts update with what she is comfortable telling. Enough for now
Fresh Bistro is good, but anything at the Junction has the parking drama.
Anything good at Endolyne Joe’s?
