Can someone please recommend a decent/well run pharmacy in West Seattle where I can get prescriptions filled correctly, and in a timely manner? Bartell’s is just Rite-Aid, and after numerous negative experiences at three different Rite-Aid locations (was given inaccurate directions by the pharmacist on how to take my Rx – dangerous), I’m desperate to find a pharmacy I can trust that employs smart people and, most importantly, has a smart, educated, and caring pharmacist on staff. Thank you!

Ounces Taproom & Beer Garden is hiring a Seasonal Part-time Beertender to work every Tues/Thurs from 3-10pm at our taproom in West Seattle. This role would start by 11/12/24 and run through February 28, 2025. (Potential to convert to a permanent position with more hours for the right candidate.)

Job Responsibilities include managing all aspects of a bustling taproom – everything from pouring beer, engaging with customers and explaining beer choices to cleaning bathrooms, doing dishes, and continuous cleaning/tidying of the taproom along with opening & closing duties. This job requires a serious multi-tasker, with excellent attention to detail who is comfortable being on your feet for long periods of time, and is willing to do the fun stuff like pouring beer and chatting with customers –– and also the not so fun stuff, like mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms and taking out trash.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about independent craft beer, has an outgoing friendly personality, cares about the small details, is comfortable working for a small business with big expectations and is willing to go above and beyond in all tasks! Bonus if you live in West Seattle!

Please only apply if you can work the specified days/times, meet the qualifications and truly care about beer! This is not your typical bartender role — we are looking for someone who can emulate the same passion and care in this job as ownership, while bringing their own personality, enthusiasm and energy to our small but mighty business.

    $17.50hr + tips (averages to $30-35hr)
    Must be 21 or older

I voted NO. These levies are out of control; we need a new system to provide ongoing services aside from this model. Levy after levy, voters are promised the moon – and then fail to see even basic maintenance of our infrastructure. The pie charts provided as explanation for where the money goes/went show only obscure categories of spending. Millions have already been spent on Vision Zero, which has accomplished exactly that. Propose something better, at a reasonable price – and then follow through.

I rarely ride a bicycle, and I never planned to become an outspoken advocate for safer streets. But the senseless death of my husband at the hands of a bad driver on a poorly designed Seattle roadway compels me to speak up.

I urge all Seattle voters to support Proposition 1, the Keep Seattle Moving transportation levy, which will appear on your November general election ballot. It comes too late for Steve, my husband of over 40 years, but approving this sensible transportation package could save the lives of other people who walk, bike, or roll on Seattle’s frequently inhospitable and dangerous streets.

Safety is at the heart of why I support Proposition 1. Thoughtfully crafted by the Seattle City Council and approved by Mayor Bruce Harrell, Keep Seattle Moving funds transportation projects that will enhance our neighborhoods and improve transportation safety for everyone–including drivers.

    Highlights include:
Increased funding for Vision Zero, especially 70 projects to improve traffic safety near Seattle Public Schools.
More bike lanes in South Seattle including a seven-mile protected lane from Capitol Hill to South Beacon Hill.
Upgrades to bridges throughout the city.
Construction of at least 350 new sidewalks in the first four years of levy.

One of the most meaningful aspects of this levy for me is its provision to honor Steve by creating a protected bike lane in West Seattle, where we lived together for more than 40 years until last Dec. 21. That is the day that Steve, a skilled and avid bike rider and longtime supporter of Cascade Bicycle Club, was catastrophically injured while biking in our neighborhood. He died just hours after that horrendous collision.

The Steve Hulsman Memorial Bike Lane is among many infrastructure investments that will benefit current and future generations. These improvements will make our streets safer for everyone, and they carry deep personal significance for me and for my family.

As a recently retired elementary school teacher, I encourage you to think about the many students who deserve safe routes to schools. As a widow and mom, I urge you to think of your family members, friends and neighbors who deserve the right to safely walk, bike, and roll through our neighborhoods.

For those of you who live outside Seattle but commute to work here, please support the Keep Seattle Moving transportation levy by talking with your Seattle friends and co-workers about the necessity of voting YES for Proposition 1. A few things you can do:

Put up a yard sign in support of the levy

Contribute to or volunteer with the Keep Seattle Moving campaign by visiting keepseattlemoving.com.

As a Cascade Bicycle Club ride leader, my husband always prioritized safety for his ride groups. In that same spirit, the Keep Seattle Moving transportation levy supports safety for all and will improve our city by fixing its ailing bridges, building new sidewalks, adding more protected bike lanes, and–most importantly–saving lives. Please join me in honoring Steve’s legacy with your vote to approve Proposition 1.

Glad they got a permit, but too bad they didn’t operate as responsible arborists. Trees should NEVER be topped, and a view is one of the poorest excuses to do so. Trees ARE a view.

It’s been 5 years, but family member used Evergreen tree service for their WS home. There were several trees needing topping as they were blocking their view. NOTE: Family went through and got permits from the city-which included a statement from a certified arborist. Evergreen would not cut anything until permits were in hand.
