    Hi Carrington,

My name is Najma and I’m based in Seattle. I came across your post about the studio assistant role and was really excited by the opportunity to support the inner workings of an active art practice.

My background is in operations, branding, and project coordination. I co-founded a design and branding studio and have spent the past several years organizing programs, managing logistics, and building systems that help creative projects run smoothly. I really enjoy the behind-the-scenes work of creating structure, managing workflows, and supporting a creative vision.

I’m also someone who appreciates art and storytelling, so the chance to contribute to a growing studio environment feels especially exciting. I’d love to learn more about your current projects and how I could help support the studio’s day-to-day operations.

    Looking forward to connecting.

I’m available whenever for an interview and my email is ugcbynajma@gmail.com

    Best,

    Hi Carrington

I’m a local artist and nonprofit administrator here in West Seattle. For the past few years, I’ve been managing a local nonprofit community theatre, “Blue Hour Theatre Group“. I produce marketing materials, secure grants, and run front-of-house during performances. I love working directly with patrons, cast, and crew, ensuring they have a good experience and feel taken care of from start to finish.

Most recently, I designed the new website for the West Seattle Art Tour. I also design sites and assist with social media marketing for individual artists and small businesses.

I believe my background working behind the scenes, along with my passion for the arts, align nicely with your needs.

    Yours

    Hello Carrington & team,

My name is Christopher Parks and I would love to be considered for your studio assistant position. I grew up here in Seattle, and currently manage a bakery in Wallingford. I have spent many years making art, I had an amazing teacher in prep school who first fostered a great love for all mediums(but watercolor is my favorite). I went to the summer program at RISD, did a stint at Cornish and have spent many hours in the different programs available here in Seattle. I have always loved the beautiful mix of artists here in the PNW, and would love to get to work alongside you! I have strong organization and inventory skills from 10+ years in the food industry but am looking to pivot back to art as my main focus in my day to day. Thank you for your time!

A great option for a memorable kid’s party cake is to focus on something fun and collectible, not just the cake itself. Camp Hollow offers whimsical cake toppers like the Pink Goose, crafted from hand-painted porcelain, which can really elevate a simple cake and make it the centerpiece of the party. These toppers are heirloom-quality and come in a gift box, so even after the cake is gone, it becomes a keepsake. Pairing a standard bakery cake sized for 20–25 people with a playful Camp Hollow topper adds both charm and personality without relying on overly sweet or generic options. It’s also perfect for a theme party or any celebration where kids will love the fun detail.

Hello! We’ve boarded our almost 20-year-old green cheek conure at Denise’s Parrot Place (myparrot.com) most of his life. It’s on Mercer Island, but that’s the closest place that our vet will recommend and they’ve always been wonderful—and Mercer Is isn’t all that far. We’ve also boarded at Mochi’s Tree House but that’s up in Bothell, which IS far from West Seattle, but they’re also great! Currently Denise’s is building out in their new space so it feels a bit more rough around the edges (there was a fire in the strip mall down the street where they were originally for years, they had smoke damage, they had to keep the business going for the parrots so they found a new unfinished space quickly). Anyway, we love them, plus there’s a great bakery a couple of storefronts down! Good luck!

Historically the fabled “West Seattle hum” has tended to be related to vacuum offloading of dry cargo on the Duwamish River. Every time a new complaint comes in (maybe once a month or so), we check VesselFinder and sure enough, a bulk cargo ship is in.

But the only way to verify that is to drive down to West Marginal and see if you can trace it. That’s what we and community leaders did more than a decade ago when this was a raging mystery – TR

My neighbor was shouldered after getting off the bus on at the delridge station. The perpetrator walked towards him in a purposefully diagonal route, proceeded to shoulder him, stunning him. At least a younger teen called out the perpetrator as he fled onto the bus.

Based on recent social media posts, shouldering assaults have occurred in Japan to young women not aware of their surroundings (distracted by their phone), allegedly by disgruntled men usually in crowded areas where the perpetrators can easily flee afterwards.

Lately, there seems to be more panhandlers throughout west seattle junctions. It’s concerning that petty crimes may occurring more often in west seattle.

Please be aware and be safe.

    Dear Carrington,
I recently moved to West Seattle and looking for art related work. I am a jewelry and woodworking artist and small (1 person) business owner. I understand and appreciate tracking, packing, and multi-tasking to ship inventory to customers. I am highly organized, dependable, flexible and easy to work with. I am accustomed to electronic organization of inventory (supply, customer communications, etc) and care of quality and appearance with shipping. Plus management of shipping supplies, financial receipts, and mindfulness of brand reputation. I use social media accounts to advertise and sell my inventory, in addition to customer engagement. My small business interests would not conflict with your studio needs at all. I am well accustomed to computer data entry, plus able to physically package and ship orders. Please let me know if my reply is of interest to you. My contact information was sent via your website.

Hello West Seattle pals, I am looking for a studio space in West Seattle to have my jewelry studio/classroom and I’m hoping that someone here might have their fingers on a space that may work. Perhaps you’re a small business who would like to sublease your space, or you’re moving out soon and you’re space is really great, or perhaps you’re an agent who knows the WS buzz.
    HOPES:
    – 500-1000sq ft
    – natural light
    – sink
    – 1-3 year lease terms
    – <$2,000 per month total

Not required but would be a plus

    – private restroom
    – store front potential

The space does not need to have a storefront but I would make good use if it was available.
I’d like at least 500-750 sqft and hoping for lots of light, a sink and perhaps a private restroom. 1-3 year lease to begin. I hope to teach small classes, have a small showroom where I can meet clients and share my custom work as well as my bench where I’ll create my jewelry.

Do you know of any spaces here in West Seattle that might fit the bill? I’m also willing to go to Georgetown/Sodo and the surrounding areas. But West Seattle is preferred.

Spaces in the Junction (like Click!/Seattle E-Bike) are far too big and out of budget, and the units at the ActiveSpace are a little too small.
