Hello! I’m working with a sweet family to find a nanny for their infant! Please see below!

    About the Family:
A family in West Seattle is seeking a nurturing and experienced nanny to care for their happy, easygoing 9-month-old. They value a warm, patient, and structured parenting approach and focus on raising confident, kind, and curious children through gentle guidance, clear boundaries, and positive reinforcement. The family also has an older child, though this position is focused solely on infant care.

They prioritize low-stimulation, screen-free days and enjoy getting outside regularly. This family is looking for a caregiver who is attentive, thoughtful, and comfortable balancing time at home with daily outings.

    Nanny Requirements:
The ideal candidate has strong infant experience and a solid understanding of child development. They should be organized, dependable, and deeply trustworthy, with the ability to engage infants through age-appropriate activities while maintaining established routines. A calm, patient presence and enjoyment of outdoor time are important for this role.

Primary responsibilities focus on infant care, including feeding, routines, engagement, and outings. Baby-related meal prep once solids are introduced may be included. Light household support beyond general tidying is appreciated but not required and will be discussed and agreed upon at hire.

    Schedule & Details:
Care is needed on the following schedule:

    Monday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

    Wednesday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

    Thursday: 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The position offers guaranteed hours, with flexibility for up to 5 additional hours per week by mutual agreement and advance notice.

The family will comply with Washington State sick leave requirements (1 hour per 40 hours worked). No additional PTO is offered at this time.

    About Our Placement Process:
This position is supported by a local, Seattle-based, woman-owned nanny placement team. We work differently than traditional agencies, our role is to advocate for nannies, not just place them. We provide support with contract review and negotiation, ensure expectations are clear and fair from the start, and offer ongoing support throughout the entire contract, not just during the hiring process. You can view the job and apply here https://www. smnplacements. com/jobs-1/part-time-infant-nanny-in-west-seattle

    Desired Qualifications:
2+ to 5 years of experience
Caring for 1 child at a time
    High school degree

Compensation: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour

Hi Austen! I feel your pain. I’ve been looking for a West Seattle home also, that is at minimum 2BA/2BA, and it has been a challenge. I’ve expanded my search to North Admiral, Alki, Genesee, Fairmount Park, and North Delridge, but still no luck. Based on conversations with realtors it seems both the sale and rental markets are slow right now. I wonder if short term rentals for summer and the World Cup has anything to do with it.

Ridiculous. Personally, I think drones should be illegal in cities. IMO, if one of those things is in my air space and therefore spying (including for real estate photos that show details of neighbor’s private space without consent) I have the right to remove it from said space.

If this is OK to post here,
A community member in west Seattle connection group recommended i may be able to share here;

my mom works at the Roxbury Safeway. I hear all the time about how much she loves her customers and that’s the only reason why she’s still at Safeway. On Thursday 4/2/2026 she had surgery due to a worker’s injury that she was denied L&I and will be out of work for three months. Every time I go into the store everyone tells me how much they love my mom, “oh your sue’s daughter” and you customers are what make her day better and keep her working there dispute the harsh unfair treatment from the company. I’ve started a go fund me to support her recovery during this difficult time.

Donate to help my mom recover, keep stabilized housing and take care of medical bills post surgery. Due to being denied works injury, she’s forced to pay her surgery out of pocket and is out of work for 3 months.
Even if you can’t donate a simple share to show her love, help’s.
Also if you happen to know if any legal advice for injury/disability that would be very helpful. We’ve had a hard fight with Safeway regarding her injury and disability.

Seattle residents should urge the City Council to prohibit cryptocurrency kiosks, often called crypto ATMs. These machines resemble bank ATMs but operate with virtually no meaningful consumer protections. Of the more than 900 crypto kiosks licensed statewide by the Washington Department of Financial Institutions, 73 are located in Seattle. None are subject to limits on fees or transaction amounts, nor are operators required to provide refunds. These are protections other states have adopted to reduce scam-related harm. Yet, even where regulations exist, enforcement has proven difficult. Connecticut, for example, revoked licenses after operators failed to comply.
The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center reports a continued sharp rise in complaints and losses tied to crypto kiosks. In 2025 alone, losses increased 58 percent, with older and vulnerable individuals disproportionately affected. Once cash is deposited and converted to cryptocurrency, recovery is nearly impossible.
Cities are stepping in where states have not. Spokane banned crypto kiosks last summer, and other cities across Washington state are now considering similar action. Meanwhile, Washington’s Legislature has failed twice to pass consumer protections, leaving local governments to act.
This is not about cryptocurrency itself, it’s about stopping a tool that is widely used to steal from vulnerable residents. Seattle should lead by banning crypto kiosks.

Sorry I was late to the party, but I was so elated to hear that COS Elaine Ko had stepped down. This is not about bashing COS Elaine Ko, but she was not a stellar representative to all of D1. After many attempts trying to get assistance for our neighborhood, COS Elaine Ko tried to get a protective order because I was calling her and emailing her about issues in our neighborhood.

The courts rightfully so, granted a temporary protective order. Anyone who is being hurt or threatened should be protected as quickly as possible….But if you put down knowingly incorrect facts which you have to back peddle in court then you are not a good representative. You are an abuser of power. So I personally am glad to see she has stepped down, but unfortunately we still have a poor excuse for a CM. In court, Rob actually said in front of the judge and my neighbors that he would never help us because we were mean to his COS. Couldn’t make that up if I tried. Instead of being a leader, he dug in for the wrong reason. Didnt you hear the judge CM Rob? THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD!

I am not speaking about them personally as I do not know them. Based on my experience with them, I count my lucky stars and would not surround myself with persons who are so interested in the power and not the job.

I say this from the bottom of my heart COS Elaine Ko….good! Now I dont have to worry about you waving your fist in my face anymore. But to Elaine Ko, I do wish you a happy life and retirement. PLEASE STAY OUT OF POLITICS!

Yeah, I’m currently dealing with this exact situation. The mold keeps coming back despite repeated cleanings, and we’re being told to run dehumidifiers 24/7 and leave windows cracked while the heat is on… all while covering the increased utility costs ourselves.

We’ve also been told they’re ‘actively looking into long-term solutions to a known moisture issue with the building,’ but there’s been no timeline or real update. Meanwhile, neighbors have already terminated their lease over the same issue, and their unit is already listed again for immediate move-in, which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence that anything is actually being fixed.

I really appreciate your response! I’ve been trying to figure out how long this has been going on and whether these ‘long-term solutions’ ever actually happen. Because aside from this, I genuinely love the place. It’s just becoming really frustrating dealing with constant cleaning and having personal items get damaged.

You’re definitely looking at both sides of the problem, which is good.

From what I’ve seen, basement issues like this usually start outside with drainage (downspouts, grading, yard slope), but once water gets in, it can quickly turn into a bigger water damage problem behind walls and flooring.

I’ve come across similar situations where people focused only on French drains but didn’t fully deal with the moisture already inside — that’s when mold and hidden damage start developing.

In cases like this, it really helps to understand how water damage Las Vegas situations are handled, especially when it comes to proper drying, cleanup, and preventing it from happening again.

I’d fix the source first, then look at drainage solutions to keep water away long term.
