CaduceusMemberMy cats are doing the same thing now that there is a 3rd cat in the house.
They just have to get used to it.
1. It will not last that long.
2. Cat pee isn’t even hard to clean. Find a product called “resolve”
3. How much do you love your animal if you’re willing to give it away once you actually have to pick up after it?

Love the Republican Party…..no one mentions John McCain’s multiple affairs during his first marriage….
We witnessed a little preview of a small McCain explosion when he abruptly cancelled his interview with Larry King because of CNN’s Campbell Brown interview…now they are out to attack the “Liberal Press”……so guess Fox will get all interviews from now on……fair and unbiased news at last!!

angelescrestParticipantAcemotel,
I agree. The middle name Hussein could have real value as Obama tries to secure peace in the Middle East (and Africa and Southeast Asia….). Oh, why can’t we all see it that way?
That is my final thought for this evening.
September 4, 2008 at 3:31 am #587961Topic: SUPER RAVE for emergency animal hospital
in forum West Seattle Rants & RavestransplantellaParticipantFive Corners 24 hour Emergency Animal Hospital in Burien.
Brilliant, wonderful, fantastic, excellent, and superb.
Someone on Lincoln Park Way who couldn’t be bothered to do the speed limit on our residential street, ran over our dear cat. Mashed him well. He managed to crawl home and I frantically began googling for emergency animal hospitals nearby.
We sped him to 5 Corners Animal Hospital late at night. Immediately upon arrival they rushed him into surgery, put him on life support, and patched his poor pieces together. He was touch and go for a couple of days. His internal organs were damaged, his rear leg was crushed, many of his ribs were fractured/broken.
But they saved him! They called every day with updates, they did everything possible to rescue his life and they succeeded. The glorious Dr. Cuthbert is my hero.
He is still in a leg cast, his ribs are recovering, and he’s getting along well considering the kind of damage that was inflicted. Even they can’t believe how well the cat is recovering from such serious destruction.
So love and kisses to Five Corners Emergency Animal Hospital, Dr. Cuthbert, and all the veterinary staff who pitched in.
In the sad event that any other west Seattle-ites are in need of immediate emergency vet care, here is the contact information:

in forum WSB Reader RecommendationscjboffoliParticipantI’ve lived in West Seattle for 2 years and never had a reason to go into Alki Lumber. But after going over last week to have a couple of screens repaired I’ll never go back. The people behind the counter were disinterested and surly. The place was a scrambled mess. And they ended up charging me double what they quoted. $50 for two small screens is a ripoff. I guess I learned my lesson.

TrickParticipantTo your response NR,
Why do I support Barack?
I like the fact he’s pro-choice,not homophobic, doesn’t intertwine his religion to the forefront of his policies, has maintained dignity throughout his campaign when smeared by the brutal christian swift boaters and Republican spin machine (Even you NR still question his associations with terrorists), has raised more money by single donors in history, ran one of the best campaigns in history that both sides have agreed upon, was against the war in Iraq but supported the war in Afghanistan, proposed pulling the troops out when he was called a “defeatist” but now seems to be a popular subject with a different tag by your party.
I think he’s a visionary that doesn’t rest on the past (Did we see a video montage of Kennedy or Clinton?…umm NOPE), but talks about the future, he is extremely bright (educated) and articulate, love how natural his family is around him, is upfront and honest with subjects that may not be popular, spoke of “change and hope” before the McCain camp did, was one of the first to acknowledge that the economy is in dire straits when the administration kept telling us it’s just a bump, He wants to help the middle class regain it’s financial independance that most have lost, doesn’t distort that he’s going to raise taxes on citizens making more than $250k, speaks about regaining the wasteless spending we’ve seen in the last 8yrs…………………that’s just the beginning why I like him.
In fact, all of us don’t really know our candidates personally, so it comes down to an educated guess on your principles and intuition.
>
>
I personally can’t relate to a party that lies and distorts the truth about a war that 4,000 + have died in and say it was necessary, then say that we’re winning? Believes that women don’t have a choice on their reproductive rights, spies on it’s citizens, makes more amendments to the constitution than all past presidents combined to cover their butts, can’t admit that waterboarding is torture, DUH! …and so on, and so on.
The continual threat machine only isolates us even more from our allies.
I know from living in Europe for 4 yrs that our image around the world has been bruised and frankly, our respect thrown aside, especially in this global economy, we can’t just turn a blind eye to, and think it doesn’t have it’s consequences.
Now NR, instead of being so questionable repetively about why so many of us like Barack, I’d like to see you start making your OWN points on your decisions instead of always being titilated when HOUSE comes in makes them for you.
Also why you make personal decisions on a party and your candidate, whoever that may be. I guess I still don’t know.
btw, I didn’t copy and paste this from a website, it just comes from the gut, just like my decision and intuiton that Obama will be one of the best Presidents this country will have, and NEEDS.
*gets off soap box to return to the RNC convention coverage*

AnonymousInactiveNo, JenV, I don’t think this affects whether you can be Democrat or not (this is America, land of the free), but I would hope that you would be more informed on your candidate.
You’re right, Palin smoked pot too… you got me!
MissK – I think she can do it. I think she can be a good mother and be VP. Who are we to say what she can and cannot do. She’s obviously intelligent. If she thinks she can combine this job with motherhood, who are we to say otherwise. That’s a personally decision that only she can make. Obama is the father of 2 children, how will he manage? See how silly that argument can be?
BDG – You never know, McCain/Palin could very well get the vote of millions of people. We shall wait and see.

beachdrivegirlParticipantI saw that too, Jen V, made me laugh!
I read an article this past weekend that talked about one of Obamas biggest pieces of experience that gets constantly overlooked. Wondering what it is ???
He won the support of milliosn of voters and beat out Clinton for the nomination of the Democratic party. He was the underdog, the one that most when they heard his name said who, but he managed to go through debate after debate. And make speech after speech and he has wowed millions of Republicans, Independents and of course his party the Democrats. Now that says alot about experience and that is just one more reason why I am truely interested to see if Palin wows in America during her speech @ the RNC. The very speech I think will make an entire new thread tomorrow/tonight. :)

acemotelParticipantIt’s very interesting that Palin’s church’s pastor sees Alaska as a refuge state in the last days, and considered Palin’s reference to that state’s abundant natural resources a “prophetic declaration” because the church will have to minister to everyone from the lower 48 when they come to Alaska in the “last days.” All this just after Palin prayed for the country to do God’s will in Iraq. What she lacks in international knowledge she makes up for in celestial revelations.
miwsParticipantHey all!
Quick post with an update. Still keeping legs elevated.
Blood counts keep coming up and are progressing great.
Heart rate is down close to where it should be.
They did and ultrasound on my right arm this afternoon to check for blood clots, no results yet.
I’ll be on this antibiotic IV until Sunday, then it sounds like I’ll be going to Riverton shortly after that for Physical Therapy.
Later!

JenVMemberPalin Slashed Funding for Teen Moms
Not many pregnant teens are as privileged as Bristol Palin. And for those who are not, Sarah Palin made things a little harder a few months ago when she used a line-item veto to cut funding for a transitional home for teen moms in Alaska. According to the Washington Post:
After the legislature passed a spending bill in April, Palin went through the measure reducing and eliminating funds for programs she opposed. Inking her initials on the legislation — “SP” — Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.
According to Passage House’s Web site, its purpose is to provide “young mothers a place to live with their babies for up to eighteen months while they gain the necessary skills and resources to change their lives” and help teen moms “become productive, successful, independent adults who create and provide a stable environment for themselves and their families.”
(It certainly doesn’t sound like the teen moms were joyriding in Cadillacs on the government’s dime, but you never know.)
In classic “compassionate” conservative fashion, Palin opposes programs that teach girls how not to get pregnant, lobbies against their right to decide whether to have a child, then kills social programs that exist to cushion the impact of those policies. She then has the gall to trot out her own pregnant daughter as a symbol for “family values.”

JennyMember> I suspect that many other rumors about her will be confirmed in the next few days. CNN reminded me that there has not been a change in the VP pick post-convention since Hubert Humphrey had to dump Eagleton in ’72.
Ah yes, I remember that. That would’ve happened about thirty years after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. ;)

JennyMemberIt occurs to me that, whether this smear campaign against Sarah Palin is orchestrated or totally open-source, “let’s put on a smear campaign!” kind of deal, this is just the kind of thing that will eventually bring the interwebs under the control of the FCC and/or FEC. Just you watch. (If so, God help us all.)

TrickParticipantMellaw6565,
I hope I’m surprised by her speech, by addressing the most asked questions about her, the economy, the investigation, her husbands affiliation with the AIP, foriegn issues, and so on and so on.
But I’m going to assume it will be a talking points memo.
I’ll be more interested in how long it takes for her to do a news conference without a teleprompter.

mellaw6565MemberInteresting that CNN’s Cafferty File just announced that they have received more than 30,000 emails since Palin’s selection – MORE than Hurricane Katrina. The emails are apparently all over the board – much like this blog.
CNN also confirmed that it is her PRIVATE attorney who has been granted $95,000 in government money to defend her actions in the Trooper scandal. Also, they confirmed her husband’s membership in the AIP.
I suspect that many other rumors about her will be confirmed in the next few days. CNN reminded me that there has not been a change in the VP pick post-convention since Hubert Humphrey had to dump Eagleton in ’72.
For now, I’m going to watch her tonite and see what she has to say and how she says it. It should be quite interesting.

cjboffoliParticipantWell maybe it is time we abolish party affiliations or at the very least a solely get rid of the horrible two-party system. The only use these labels seem to have is to limit choice. Imagine a world devoid of huge political parties and their money machines where one can vote for a candidate on their merits alone.

Tonya42MemberLordy Lordy Lordy –
New Resident, please stop belittling yourself, you have the patience of a saint. You never quit and you are honest and conduct yourself (your responses) with integrity. You have an open mind. You stand out.
“Acemotel- So in effect the Republicans will be nominating this eminently unqualified woman to the PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES “
Actually as far as her experience Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system.
The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation (REPEAT ENTIRE NATION) from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, 24 hours a day, unlike other Guard units, which means that Palin has unique experience among governors.
Palin is regularly briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism.
She’s also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security’s counterterrorism plans.
Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country’s defense. Given Alaska’s proximity to Russia and the presence of Fort Greely, the home base of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion, there’s no doubt she has security clearances we don’t even know about.
Yes please, let’s make this about her experience!
She has more executive experience than the Dem ticket combined so please, let’s keep going down this road:)
JoB “New Resident..
Obama was nominated after 20+ years of public service.. first as an organizer, then as a state legislator and last as US senator.”
Obama was a junior Senator from a state for about sixteen or seventeen months before he decided he was experienced enough to be president. Sarah Palin has been the Chief Executive of a state for nearly two years… before running as Vice President.
“Villagegreen “However, can someone please explain to me why you believe Sarah Palin is qualified to be President of the United States”
Hello Villagegreen – I think I have answered this with my comments above but safe to say I’d rather have her in the top position over Biden who has been consistantly wrong on most everything.
JenV “BTW, I would rather live in a DEMOCRATIC society than your Republican “utopia” any day of the week.”
My dear you live constitutional Republic. Do you understand this?
JanS “Please…some concrete examples? That a pretty general statement.” JanS – Google is your friend. If you are unable to find some instances then I will assist you.
“JoB “Tonya42 is that egg on your face?”
No but I see a few feathers sticking out of your mouth, is it crow?
:)

JoBParticipantJenV..
i got distracted.
i can think of little more dangerous than arbitrarily banning books…
i bet the subject never came up after she forced the librarian out… after all.. it doesn’t have to if the new librarian is compliant. books just disappear from the system or are never ordered…
September 3, 2008 at 7:00 pm #637093In reply to: Lieberman wears a turncoat and flip flops
JoBParticipanti think those who elected Joe Lieberman with one party affiliation have a right to be upset when he changes it…
Looks to me like Joe Lieberman will follow any horse he thinks can get him closer to the white house.
i think he backed the wrong horse for all of the wrong reasons…
but time will tell.
