Just sent by a reader, that photo of a spinout crash in the 5600 block of West Marginal Way SW. The reader said it’s important to remember how slippery it is out right now; they took the photo before emergency responders arrived but said 911 had been called. SFD is on the way after a report that at least one person might be hurt.
12:30 PM: Police have just been dispatched to another crash reported on the westbound West Seattle Bridge, this time described as near the Delridge offramp, someone spinning out and hitting the barrier. No word yet on injuries.
12:44 PM: The scene is reported to have cleared quickly.
8:00 AM: Thanks for the tips. A large law-enforcement response is blocking northbound Delridge Way near Orchard. Photojournalist Tim Durkan reports it is the end of a King County Sheriff’s Office pursuit that started with an armed carjacking in the White Center vicinity. He reports one person is in custody.
8:31 AM: Metro has finally just sent an alert saying the H Line is rerouted in the area. But our crew member checking out the scene says it appears close to clearing – a tow truck is on scene and more of the Burien PD/KCSO cars are leaving. Photo added above. (We’re following up with KCSO for further info on what started this.)
9:45 AM: A tree is down, blocking part of the 7500 block of 20th SW.
10:10 AM: SDOT is reported to be on scene to clear the tree.

As Duwamish River cleanup work continues, the South Park Bridge has two more overnight closures coming up, Monday night into Tuesday morning (December 1-2) and Tuesday night into Wednesday morning (December 2-3). Here are the announcement details:
The South Park Bridge will be fully closed to all vehicles and pedestrians on the nights of Monday, December 1, and Tuesday, December 2, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., while crews place clean material under the bridge. It will reopen at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, with closures ending the morning of Wednesday, December 3.
During this time, the bridge will be in a raised position. This allows crews to place clean material under the bridge in locations where they dredged earlier in the construction season. Unlike during daytime construction, recreational vessels will not be permitted to pass beneath the South Park Bridge during this nighttime work. …
King County Metro Route 60, which travels over the South Park Bridge, will be rerouted during the hours of the bridge closures. King County Metro will provide Route 60 reroute information on the Metro Services Advisories page: kingcounty.gov/metro/alerts.

Poggie Tavern proprietor Joel Stedman says he and the staff are extra-bummed the tavern can’t be open this holiday week to share holiday cheer and festive decorations. The Poggie’s been closed since a sewer-line problem was discovered this past weekend, and it’s turned out to be bigger than suspected – after consulting with multiple plumbers, they learned that a line had apparently collapsed. It’s part of their building, the city has told them, not part of the public infrastructure, but it stretches out into the street, so when repairs start first thing tomorrow morning, they expect a lane closure out front (if you haven’t been to The Poggie, it’s on the west side of the 4700 block of California SW). Stedman says they’re hoping it can be fixed by the weekend but could take more than a week – especially with the holiday – so they’re not sure how soon they’ll be able to reopen, but he’s confident that things will “be all right” before long. He says other owners of local establishments in old buildings have been offering commiseration and advice, and he’s really appreciative of that. Anything else the community can do? we asked. One suggestion: Patronize their sibling establishment, Larry’s Tavern (3405 California SW), which Stedman and wife Margo Beaver opened more than a year before taking over The Poggie in early 2020.
