transplantellaParticipantI’m needing some replacement buttons and various little sewing things and I don’t know where to find them?
I have no car and the 54 bus is my wheels. I can easily get to downtown and Westwood/White Center. Beyond those destinations bus transfers are necessary, and with transfers come hours of waiting….not convenient.
So between downtown and WC where can I find little things for sewing needs? Thanks.

QueMemberI don’t know when West Seattle Fabrics is supposed to open, but that will be the place to go in the future.
Other than that, the closest place is Pacific Fabrics Outlet on 4th Ave South in the SoDo part of town.
Not really much else in WS since Hancock’s closed.

DBurnsParticipantNot sure about buttons but Rite Aid at Westwood has a few things for sewing – seam ripper, pins, needles, Singer parts, etc.
Sure miss Hancock!!
I also keep wanting to run into the new location of Heavenly Wholesale to see what kinds of things like ribbons, etc. so maybe call them?

herongrrrlParticipantBartells usually has a few basic sewing notions, too. Don’t know about buttons, though. Yarn Gallery on the 54 route between the Morgan and Alaska Junctions has quite a button selection, but they’re pretty fancy buttons, nothing really basic.

miwsParticipanttransplantella, I don’t know of any stores specifically but Greenwood may be another option, as most, but not all, 54’s continue on to Greenwood as the Route 5.
IIRC, it’s about a 50-60 minute ride, under normal traffic conditions, from Morgan Junction area, to “Downtown” Greenwood, at N. 85th.
Only other possible minor inconvenience other than the long-ish (though one bus) ride, is depending on how long you’re in Greenwood, your transfer time may run out, and you’ll have to pay another fare. Especially if you use an ORCA Card, with it’s E-Purse option, which holds to a strict two hour transfer time limit, as opposed to the 2.5 hours I’ve found that drivers will often give on a paper transfer.
Also, be sure for the ride back, that you check your Route 5 schedule, or use Trip Planner, to make sure the Route 5 heading back southbound will become a 54, and not a 55, or just be a Downtown only run. Also might not hurt to double check with the driver, if the Route 5’s seem to be running late.
